Position Overview


As Staff Accountant, you will share responsibility for all areas relating to financial reporting. You will be responsible for preparing journal entries, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger / sub-ledger reconciliation. The desired candidate will enjoy a high-volume environment and maintain a strong commitment to do whatever is necessary to perform high-quality work, meet deadlines and finish assigned tasks.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Assists with accounting analysis related to the monthly close process including preparing and posting journal entries and reporting schedules.
  • Ensures account reconciliations are completed accurately and timely.
  • Records monthly lease journal entries, and calculations of right-of-use assets, and perform lease classification tests to determine proper accounting treatment.
  • Manages Fixed Asset sub-ledger and general ledger accounting including capital budgets and spending, sale/scrap of equipment and tracking depreciation.
  • Books monthly accrual entries including prepaid, property tax, and recurring FOH expenses.
  • Reviews, investigates and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries or reports.
  • Codes data for input to financial data processing system according to company procedures.
  • Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company controls / procedures.
  • Assists with the compilation of internal and external audit requests.
  • Develops queries, manipulates data to the necessary format and takes on special projects to meet the needs of management.


Qualifications
  • Minimum Bachelor or equivalent in finance or accounting
  • Minimum three years of work experience required in corporate or public accounting
  • Advanced Excel skills including the ability to filter, sort, and create PIVOT tables in Excel
  • Understanding of IFRS 16 / ASC 842 Lease Standards
  • Must be able to adapt to new and different computer programs and software to enable efficient data gathering and analysis
  • Ability to research, compile, analyze and interpret data
  • Good written, verbal communication and collaborative skills
  • Ability to analyze and reconcile complex accounts and reserves
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communicational skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
  • Self-motivated to deliver with a sense of urgency on priorities
