Position Overview
As Staff Accountant, you will share responsibility for all areas relating to financial reporting. You will be responsible for preparing journal entries, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger / sub-ledger reconciliation. The desired candidate will enjoy a high-volume environment and maintain a strong commitment to do whatever is necessary to perform high-quality work, meet deadlines and finish assigned tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Assists with accounting analysis related to the monthly close process including preparing and posting journal entries and reporting schedules.
Ensures account reconciliations are completed accurately and timely.
Records monthly lease journal entries, and calculations of right-of-use assets, and perform lease classification tests to determine proper accounting treatment.
Manages Fixed Asset sub-ledger and general ledger accounting including capital budgets and spending, sale/scrap of equipment and tracking depreciation.
Books monthly accrual entries including prepaid, property tax, and recurring FOH expenses.
Reviews, investigates and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries or reports.
Codes data for input to financial data processing system according to company procedures.
Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company controls / procedures.
Assists with the compilation of internal and external audit requests.
Develops queries, manipulates data to the necessary format and takes on special projects to meet the needs of management.
Qualifications
Minimum Bachelor or equivalent in finance or accounting
Minimum three years of work experience required in corporate or public accounting
Advanced Excel skills including the ability to filter, sort, and create PIVOT tables in Excel
Understanding of IFRS 16 / ASC 842 Lease Standards
Must be able to adapt to new and different computer programs and software to enable efficient data gathering and analysis
Ability to research, compile, analyze and interpret data
Good written, verbal communication and collaborative skills
Ability to analyze and reconcile complex accounts and reserves
Strong organizational, analytical, and communicational skills
Detail-oriented
Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
Self-motivated to deliver with a sense of urgency on priorities
