Work with the Technology Innovation team to develop and validate new thermal energy storage, heat rejection, and/or direct air carbon capture technologies
Design and assemble small to medium scale test modules
Design and run small to medium scale performance and reliability testing equipment and procedures
Support development of numerical performance modeling tools based on the available data sets
Identify and qualify alternative design and materials of construction options
Support technology scale-up activities (e.g. product concept development, cost modeling…)
Qualifications:
Majoring in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical, or Materials preferred)
Seniors or MS students preferred
Proficient in Excel; advanced knowledge of Excel VBA, Matlab, or similar programming language preferred
Experience with 2D and 3D CAD required; experience with Autodesk Inventor preferred but not required
Hands-on machining experience required
Working knowledge of design of experiments principles
Working knowledge of thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer, and fluid dynamics, and/or working knowledge of chemical engineering fundamentals (kinetics, thermodynamics, transport phenomena), process design, and materials science
