Job Description:

ERM is seeking an Climate Change Advisory – Associate Consultant to join our team in Seattle or San Francisco.  In this role, you will contribute to the development and growth of ERM’s climate change business. 

ERM delivers a wide range of climate change services to support the development of climate strategies including Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosure (TCFD) analysis, target setting, benchmarking, greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory and verification, and disclosures.  We help develop and implement climate change programs across a broad range of industry sectors for global companies and financial institutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Collect, manipulate, and analyze large datasets to frame climate topics for a range of stakeholders.

  • Conduct desk-based research and synthesize information into key themes to develop conclusions and clearly communicate written recommendations.

  • Assist in developing climate change strategies including setting a vision, prioritizing decarbonization levers, and framing a net zero roadmap.

  • Analyze transition (policy/legal, market, technology, and reputational) climate risks and opportunities in alignment with the TCFD framework. This might also include scenario analysis and financial modeling.

  • Support clients responding to the CDP Climate Change, Water, and Forest Questionnaires, DJSI, GRI, and other relevant disclosures.

  • Ability to plan and manage tasks across multiple projects in parallel to meet client expectations and delivery deadlines.

  • Manage tasks and assist ERM Partners and Project Managers to effectively deliver projects.

  • Communicate with clients, ERM teams, and subcontractors (when applicable).

  • Stay knowledgeable of trends in the field.

REQUIREMENTS


  • 2 to 5 years of experience on similar work.

  • A Bachelor’s (required) or Master’s degree (preferred) in enterprise risk management, economics or engineering or basic/applied science or math (such as physics, chemistry, material science, environmental science, etc.).

  • Attention to detail.

  • Ability to think critically through systems and processes.

  • Experience working with datasets, and some technical understanding of climate change such as GHG measurement, inventories and reporting.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite software, specifically advanced level Excel (ability to perform advanced equations, graph, and learn new functions quickly).

  • Effective written/verbal communication.

  • Ability to recognize when to ask for help and how to identify appropriate resources to accomplish tasks as needed.

  • Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Interest in a career in consulting and demonstrates a passion for serving clients and addressing the climate challenge.

COMPETENCIES

The ideal candidate will also have:


  • Understanding of business strategy and approaches.

  • Proficiency with other programming and/or data analysis software (PowerBI, VBA, Tableau Desktop, etc.).

  • Experience with lifecycle analysis with SimaPro or GaBi.

  • Excellent proofreading and technical editing.

The typical hiring range for this role is $72,695 to $82,000.  This is the typical hiring range we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future.  An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.
