Job Description:

Provides operational and technical support for configuration management, software deployment and updates, and antivirus protection for university devices; multifunction network devices; and server backups.


  1. Monitors university-owned computers to ensure they are properly managed by Active Directory, Group Policy, and configuration management; and are managed and reporting to the antivirus system.

  2. Manages operating system updates for desktop and mobile devices.

  3. Implements and maintains a backup schedule for the university's servers, and ensures data recoverability.

  4. Provides support to the User Services team with desktop and mobile device configurations.

  5. Maintains servers and related services for network print, fax, and scanning on university multifunction devices.

  6. Maintains and supports the use of the helpdesk portal by applicable support teams.

  7. Creates and maintains application packages for desktop and mobile devices in configuration manager.

  8. Serves as backup to the Senior Systems Administrator.

  9. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • Broad technical knowledge of Windows networks, virtualized Windows servers, device configuration management, and network printing management

  • Excellent technical skills to implement and monitor backups and antivirus system on campus networks

  • Excellent analytical skills to evaluate and analyze systems and devices, and diagnose technical issues

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with all levels of university employees

  • Excellent organizational skills to prioritize multiple projects

  • Excellent written communication skills to compose own correspondence and reports

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment and act upon decisions within scope of delegated authority

PC Skills:


  • Proficiency with personal computers, PC software, and peripherals

  • Experience with PC and server operating systems

Preferred Experience:


  • Prefer experience with Microsoft 365/Azure Active Directory
