About the Opportunity:


The successful Accounting Manager assists in overseeing the month-end close and reporting process, account reconciliations, sales, property & use tax filings, and budget and forecast processes. Managing capital expenditures and tracking results. The successful accounting Manager will be favorably viewed by managers, peers, and direct reports, and be swift, efficient, and accurate in the execution of assigned duties. Performance will be measured by quality, service, annual reviews, management evaluation, and feedback from peers and direct reports.


About You:


This person will be adaptable, dynamic, and embody American Queen Voyages’ RESPECT Service System.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Leads the Vessel Operations accounting and forecasting processes. Prepares more complex journal entries and manages deadlines.

  • Prepares financial analyses as needed to evaluate results

  • Performs reconciliations of various general ledger accounts

  • Responsible for accurate and timely filing of all sales, amusement, property and use tax returns for onboard transactions if needed

  • Responsible for accounting set up and changes to ERP

  • Interfaces frequently with Vessel Operations Team’s by assisting with review of monthly financials, forecasts and annual budgets.

  • Review and approve purchase orders against operational and capital budgets

  • Assists with various projects to implement system enhancements, assist operations, and improve internal processes

  • Assists with year-end financial audit and any state tax audits.

  • Collaborate with the operations teams and provide robust and meaningful actual to forecast variance explanations.

  • Review and provide analysis of various ship board contracts and audit vendor invoices frequently.

  • Performs other ad hoc accounting duties or projects as needed

  • Additional job duties as assigned


Requirements & Qualifications:


Education:



  •  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required

  •  5-10 years accounting experience

  •  Public accounting experience preferred

  •  CPA is required (or working toward CPA)


Skills & Abilities:



  •  Self-starter and able to work independently with minimal direction

  •  Work in an organized manner with high attention to detail

  •  Consistently meet tight deadlines

  •  Communicate effectively in oral and written form

  •  Manage multiple priorities/tasks

  •  Establish and maintain effective working relationships


Experience:



  •  Work with Microsoft Office applications (especially Word & Excel)

  •  Experience with Great Plains is a plus


Other:


• Must be at least 21 years of age


• Submit to and pass alcohol and drug tests including but not limited to pre-employment, random,
reasonable suspicion, and post-accident/incident testing
