JOB BRIEF

As part of the Human Resources department the Human Resources Generalist is responsible for ensuring that diversity and inclusion practices are implemented throughout all level of the Institute.  The diversity and inclusion manager is responsible for recognizing, creating, and implementing plans to promote diversity within an organization. A significant part of the role is promoting and developing training programs to enhance employee understanding on inclusions issues. The Diversity and inclusion specialist act as HR a regulator for diversity issues and is tasked with ensuring the organization follows appropriate legislation and employment law regulations around bias and inclusion.  This position is based in Washington, DC and report to the Chief, Talent and Culture Officer.

TARGET SALARY RANGE

Grade 12 - $89,834 - $92,829

The Institute uses the General Schedule salary tables for administering compensation. Offers are determined based upon candidate qualifications, related experience, internal equity, and the amount budgeted for the position.

RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Work with employee resources groups to create, communicate, plan, and carry out diversity focused initiatives and projects.

  • Analyzes, monitors, and disseminates diversity and inclusion performance results.

  • Create and manage tracking, measurement, and reporting systems for diversity initiatives and programs.

  • Aid in the creation and management of long-term internal D&I initiatives

  • Closely monitor and report on trends and concerns related to diversity.

  • Track and share the outcomes of committed diversity and inclusion initiatives to guarantee real, quantifiable progress toward diversity, inclusion, and corporate objectives.

  • In collaboration with HR partners, facilitate ongoing diversity training to current on best practices.

  • Facilitate the training of Institute leadership and staff on diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility practices and tools.

  • Serves as project manager and logistics coordinator for all Diversity & Inclusion initiatives and learning solutions

  • Participating in the review and implementation of company diversity plans, programs and policies, which include but go beyond Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Affirmative Action (AA)

  • Providing insight into trainings and initiatives to create and foster an open and inclusive environment that serves to attract and retain a diverse workforce.

QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor’s degree with six (6) years of experience in human resources management, social science, business administration, or a closely related discipline is required.

  • Knowledge of diversity management in practice.

  • The capacity to identify challenges and assist others in overcoming diversity barriers.

  • Developed interpersonal and communication abilities are required.

  • Problem-solver, and advocate for ongoing progress.

  • Ability to conduct reports and research comfortably and confidently.

  • Ability to work together across teams to encourage and foster involvement and communication

  • Must have exceptional presentation, writing, and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Capacity to approach each work with an optimistic outlook.

  • Must feel at ease gathering data and facts to give to peers and superiors.

  • Must be able to engage, work together, build rapport, and keep cultural sensitivity and awareness.

  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

  • Must be a US citizen.
