20.75 - 24.72 (depending on experience, includes base pay plus 8% shift differential)

Schedules Available: 

 Mon-Fri 6:00pm-2:30am or Sun - Wed 2pm - 12:30am

PRIMARY PURPOSE

Under direct supervision, Distribution Center / Customer Service Associate receives orders for blood and blood products, prepares blood and blood products for shipment, and delivers those products to hospital customers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Distribution Center / Customer Service Associate performs all assigned duties in compliance with internal SOPs and external regulations.  Responsible for bringing compliance issues to the attention of management.

Distribution Center / Customer Service Associate Provides value for the customer by supporting departmental and individual goal achievement, effective communications, process improvement and compliance.

Distribution Center / Customer Service Associate demonstrates respect for all team members by seeking input on processes and problem solving, communicating key information, collaborative teamwork and supporting a culture of diversity.

Distribution Center / Customer Service Associate receives prepares, and ships routine, ASAP and STAT orders for blood and blood products.

Distribution Center / Customer Service Associate selects appropriate blood components for order accuracy to include product type, ageing, and any requested customer criteria.   Conducts a visual inspection of each product prior to packing to ensure there are no abnormalities. Packs blood components in specified configuration and storage container required by validation.

Distribution Center / Customer Service Associate professionally and safely delivers blood product orders to Vitalant hospital customers using a company vehicle.  May deliver products and packages to airport cargo desks and other Vitalant sites.   Meets required delivery timeframes to ensure logistics parameters and customer expectations.

Distribution Center / Customer Service Associate communicates with customers regarding order fulfillment, order turn-around times, estimated arrival time, product availability, or other questions or concerns customers may have.  Escalates customer concerns as appropriate to department leadership, or medical representatives.

Distribution Center / Customer Service Associate maintains accurate hospital services records. Accurately records transactions and processes associated fees.  

Distribution Center / Customer Service Associate monitors all storage requirements and updates applicable records and charts.  Performs quality control of storage equipment and shipping procedures.  

Distribution Center / Customer Service Associate maintains hospital services equipment, vehicles and work area including periodic preventative maintenance.

Distribution Center / Customer Service Associate supports logistics by scheduling third-party carrier pickups; following up on late shipments, monitoring product and supply movement inside Vitalant; and supporting local operations with supply movement as needed.

Distribution Center / Customer Service Associate receives, inspects and determines acceptability of blood components. Initiates quarantine and/or blocked distribution for suspected non-conforming products.

Distribution Center / Customer Service Associate performs all other duties, at the discretion of management, as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge/Education

High school graduate or GED required.

Ability to read and write English required.  

Licenses/Certifications

Valid in-state driver’s license required.

Experience

Minimum 6 months customer service experience required.  

Prior driving experience in a business environment preferred.  

Prior inside delivery experience preferred.

Prior healthcare industry experience preferred

Skills/Abilities

Good communication skills and customer relations skills in order to deal effectively with customers and staff. Demonstrated excellent verbal skills.  

Detail oriented to ensure accuracy on paperwork and ensuring all required processes are followed. Must be comfortable with mobile device/technology.

Positive team-oriented attitude. 

Able to work independently with ability to make sound decisions.  Willingness and judgement to escalate problems and issues to management as needed.   

Computer skills required.  

Able to work on-call, various shifts including evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime. 

Must be able to work in various weather conditions.  

Able to meet all physical requirements with or without accommodation.  

Must possess a good driving record. 

Travel within the blood center service area required.

Job Grade 114 -2B

Salary $43,160 - $51,418 (Annually)
