It’s a model that is driven by the healthcare staff who work together to address quality standards, staffing and scheduling, resource allocation, education planning, career development and education for patients and their families. 


The Chief Quality Officer CQO will provide leadership for quality improvement and patient safety programs throughout the healthcare  organization. Working in partnership with the Executive Team and Medical staff leadership, the CQO Chief Quality Officer will provide the leadership necessary to achieve national best practice performance levels in quality and patient safety while implementing evidence based medicine/practices. 


The CQO Chief Quality Officer is preferred to have MSN degree and active Registered Nurse licensure. The ideal Chief Quality Officer CQO is a proven and tenured physician, clinician, nurse or healthcare executive with a minimum of ten years clinical practice, five years executive leadership, and five years experience and expertise in clinical quality improvement, process improvement, and patient safety in acute care hospitals and chronic care organizations.


The Chief Quality Officer CQO should have experience in working with physicians from diverse backgrounds and perspectives in acute, ambulatory, chronic care, and preventive care environments especially in a large and complex academic medical center.  The CQO Chief Quality Officer should be and expert in clinical quality improvement (CQI), Lean, Toyota and/or Six Sigma methodologies statistical analysis, epidemiology, emergency, and disaster management, care management, risk management, accreditation (TJC and NCQA) information systems, electronic medical records (inpatient and outpatient environments), CPOE, outcome measurement, severity adjustment, benchmarking and evidence based medicine.
