Seasonal Janitorial & Custodial Staff - Night Shift

Zingerman's Mail Order is hiring seasonal janitorial staff to keep our warehouse and offices squeaky clean!

We have immediate openings on our night shift crew.

About Us
Zingermans Mail Order is the online and catalog shop for Zingermans. We ship great food and gifts all across America, everything from bread and cheese to cured ham and tinned fish.

The holidays at Zingerman's Mail Order are crazy but fun. We grow from a crew of 100 to a swarm of nearly 500. People come to work here from all walks of life. Moms, dads, students, retirees, landscapers, dancers. Some people are in between jobs. Some people, this is their first job. Some folks come because they want to work with us for the long term. Some, it's just a little job for extra Christmas present money. Any reason is fine with us. Nearly everyone who works here now started as a part of a holiday crew at one time or another. We'd love for you to join us.

Safety at Zingermans Mail Order
The health and safety of our staff is our greatest priority. We are adamantly following the guidelines and directives from the CDC, Washtenaw County, the State of Michigan and other experts. We are focusing on screening, sanitizing and distancing in our building:
We are sanitizing all touched surfaces daily.
We wear masks in the building when Washtenaw County is in a HIGH Covid status.
Masks and hand sanitizer are available everyday for all of our employees.
We are screening everyone who comes to work each day for symptoms.

What kinds of things do you do in this job?
Building cleaners keep our warehouse and office spaces looking amazing and safe for our staff.
You will clean like you never have before, performing all daily & periodic cleaning of non-food contact surfaces. This includes but not limited to floors, walls, ceilings, windows, restrooms and outside grounds.Sweep & mop floorsClean & restock employee restroomsShovel snow and salt on the sidewalks and all outdoor areasTake out garbage, recycling on every shift outdoors to dumpstersClean office spaces, emptying wastebaskets, vacuuming and recyclingVacuum rugs and carpeted areasOperate floor cleaning machinerySanitize common use areas like door knobs & water fountain areas

Compensation is $16.50/hour

Where is this job?
Zingermans warehouse is located at 610 Phoenix Drive, Ann Arbor, MI 48108. We are on the AATA bus route.

What does it take to get hired on our Cleaning Team?
There are lots of things we are hoping to find in anyone who applies. (We've listed them below.) But there are two musts:
You must have experience cleaning in a commercial setting
You must meet availability requirements to be considered for this position. The night shift is 10pm-8am. Full time availability is preferred. Part time availability will be considered, you must be able to work a minimum of 3 shifts per week.
You must be comfortable, bending, lifting and being on your feet for 6-10 hour shift.

What kind of skills are required for this job?
There are a few of things youll need to have to make this job work:
Cleaning in a commercial/business experienceAbility to read and speak fluently in EnglishAbility to follow written and verbal instructionsComfortable bending, lifting (up to 25lbs), and being on your feet for a 6-10 hour shift in a warehouse environment.You love to work from a checklist.

When does this job begin and end?
Work starts begins now and ends on or around December 22nd, 2022.

Are there any other perks?
Absolutely. All training is paid. All breaks are paid. If youre working a longer shift and theres a lunch or dinner break, we make homemade meals and serve them for free. (Theyre delicious.) Will I get full time work?
Yes. If you would like to work full time hours, that is available. If you only want part time hours, that is ok too.

Can I apply for full time work after the job ends?
Yes, we encourage it. We'll have a limited number of both full & part time positions at Mail Order and elsewhere in the Zingerman's Community of Business after the holiday.

What's the hiring process like?
Its quick. We don't have a typical interview for our holiday crew. Well ask you to come in to complete some paperwork. Thats it. When youre done youll leave knowing when to return for your first paid shift. You can choose a date. We can get you working within one week, usually sooner. We aim to get you working and paid as soon as possible.
