Our firm's Trusts and Estates Tax practice seeks an accomplished Tax Manager experienced with serving Non-Profit clients, high net worth individuals, closely held business owners, C suite executives and family offices, who excels in client deliverables, exhibits strong leadership capabilities, and has a passion for the public accounting profession, to join our Trusts and Estates Tax team.
As a Tax Manager in the Trusts and Estates Tax group, you will utilize your technical skills and provide a combination of sophisticated and customized tax compliance and consulting services to a variety of our valued clients, assisting those clients with estate, gift, trust, and charitable tax planning. You will collaborate with and assist in the professional development of other tax staff members. You will also participate in client proposals and other new business development opportunities.
This is a national practice. The position can be located in any of our Mazars U.S. offices. Our firm also offers remote working.
What You Will Do:
Utilize your technical expertise and collaborative attitude to deliver exceptional tax compliance and consulting services to our high and ultra-high net worth clients
Advise ultra-high net worth clients on a full spectrum of tax services including wealth transfer, charitable and retirement planning, and related tax matters
Identify complex tax issues impacting clients and provide effective resolution
Manage engagement teams serving individual, fiduciary, gift, generation skipping and estate taxation matters, including engagement planning and budget
Review complex individual (Form 1040), estate (Form 706) gift (Form 709), non-profit (990/990PF) and fiduciary (Form 1041) tax returns, including related tax schedules and forms.
Review estate planning documents such as last wills and testaments, trust agreements, powers of attorney, and healthcare proxies
Collaborate with other Mazars tax personnel regarding state and local taxation and international taxation matters that impact clients
Provide leadership, training and mentorship to other tax staff, and delegate work assignments to the engagement team
Develop and sustain strong client relationships with client personnel and other professional advisors
Exhibit a general understanding of estate planning concepts
Stay current on technical and industry developments and standards while evaluating potential impact on clients and their families
Participate in client proposals and new business development opportunities
Drive and collaborate with firm leadership on growth opportunities with existing clients and prospects
What We Seek:
Bachelor of Science degree in accounting or a business-related field
Advanced tax degree (MST, JD, LLM) is preferred
CPA, EA, or J.D. is required
CFP, CFE or related designations are preferred
5+ years of relevant tax compliance in a CPA firm, a tax consulting practice, trust department, a private client services, or family office environment
Significant working knowledge of taxation matters related to personal income, estate and gift taxation, and wealth retention strategies required
Experience with CCH Axcess and BNA Tax Planner preferred
Proficient with the use of Microsoft Office Suite tools
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral)
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Strong tax research and critical thinking skills
Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and within budget
Ability to travel to client locations as needed
Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
