About the Role
First PREMIER Bank is looking for an individual to join our Project Support team as a Business Analyst! This individual would provide analytical support for various assigned areas of First PREMIER Bank. This includes writing reports and queries using analytic software, including Cognos and Insight 2 Action (I2A), validate accuracy of output, analyze data and formulate conclusions, and communicate results. An individual in this position would also manage the enterprise-wide report writing requests to support all Bank departments and assist with data integrity and validation within the core banking software. In addition, they will understand First PREMIER Bank’s products and processes and be able to provide suggestions for process improvement automating manual procedures. This position will work in close coordination and report to the Vice President – Data Analytics and Operational Support.
This position is an on-site position at First PREMIER Bank in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Learn how to write reports in Cognos; be able to assist with writing new reports and queries to support requests from all Bank departments.
Develop, validate and provide ongoing support of operational and project-related reports, scripts and data analysis.
Provide technical direction, guidance and assistance during project development, maintaining data integrity and quality control of delivered reports.
Define reporting requirements and communicate with requestor.
Develop, maintain and optimize database modules and system components.
Utilize I2A software for data analysis and trending. Understand what data is all available within I2A, how data is transferred to our data warehouse, and when each data set is transferred.
Review existing MIS reports from across the Bank to determine if they can be efficiently written in Cognos.
Analyze and validate data output to ensure accuracy of data and communicate any discrepancies or observations to the requestor.
Support all third-party interfaces and assist with needed data extracts and data transfers.
Understand the banking industry as a whole and specifically our products, processes, and procedures. This knowledge is vital in helping analyze our current processes and determining the best way to put data models together, assist with data clean-up projects, and recommend better ways to enter and maintain data.
Be able to review procedures from other departments, understand and analyze process flow, effectively communicate recommended changes, and implement automation and streamlining of processes to make them more efficient.
Document Project Support department procedures. Effectively communicate via written and verbal communication.
Work on larger bank initiatives as directed by the VP of Data Analytics.
Skills and Qualifications
Bank experience strongly recommended
Analytical skills, Report writing, or equivalent technical skills required.
Incumbent must possess basic combination of education/experience that would enable them to meet essential functions and required competencies of the position including communication, documentation, and analytical and technical background.
Strong attention to detail and critical thinking ability is required.
Enhanced computer skills enabling data access and analysis.
Proficiency of the English language.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to concentrate and work independently.
Must demonstrate attention to detail and possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Aptitude to make solid decisions and must be highly motivated and organized.
