We are seeking a Cloud Architect for our office in Olathe, KS, who will be tasked with driving public and private cloud adoption, operationalization, and strategy across the company. This role provides leadership in project execution, and design of new, or enhancements to existing cloud-based infrastructure and operations.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Define and develop cloud architecture with emphasis on service scalability, cost efficiency, and security
Communicate knowledge and understanding of how public cloud operates with a proven ability to develop the proper framework and standards needed for the organization
Be the foundation of the Cloud Center of Excellence (CCOE) and work with others to adopt and adapt its mission as necessary
Apply DevOps practices to the design, implementation, and operation of services.
Record and disseminate best-practice knowledge across teams using public and private cloud platforms
Define and maintain the cloud architecture roadmap
Research and develop technology proof of concepts to validate potential use of new solutions
Gather and document complex requirements for business needs and independently provide solutions that meet the technical and business requirements
Translate, negotiate, and communicate architectural and development concepts across teams
Develop project documentation including statements of work, detailed project plans, architecture designs, detailed implementation plans, deployment plans, project test plans and operational training materials
Responsible for delivery of cloud and infrastructure solutions across regions at a global scale across multiple cloud and infrastructure platforms.
Strategize and make decisions as necessary, independently, and with minimal direction
Seeks knowledge of new technologies and understands the risks with software products, frameworks, and third-party platforms
Participates in project definition activities including feature analysis and system tradeoffs
Develop a cloud adoption framework that includes documentation, guidelines, best practices and implementation plans
Explores new technologies, cloud services, and third-party solutions, and identifies their applicability to Garmin's environment
Qualifications
REQUIRED:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or another relevant field AND a minimum of 9 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
Extensive knowledge of one or more cloud providers, such as Azure or AWS
Demonstrated experience in successful implementation of public cloud solutions
Ability to design and implement cloud infrastructure
Knowledge of IT ecosystems and how they support the success of the company
Leadership skills and the ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization
Proficiency in one or more programming or scripting languages
Proven track record of making recommendations, creating documentation, and overseeing policies and procedures to meet industry best practices and to meet required SLAs
Familiarity with regulatory and legal requirements (i.e., PCI, HIPAA, SOX, FedRamp, NIST)
Relevant experience with cloud standards, usability, and accessibility concepts and principles
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Certifications in cloud platforms such as:
AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Professional
Azure Solutions Architect Expert
Experience with containers and container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, Red Hat OpenShift
