About the Team

The Content Operations & Engineering team is a close knit, dedicated group of professionals with a passion for digital content strategy, management, and design. We empower internal content creators to craft and deliver effective content consistently and at scale, with the belief that great digital products rely on great content experiences. We are a team of 7 plus members who work with cross-functional product teams to deliver high quality digital products and services for BigFuture and College Board.

About the Opportunity

As a Content Engineer you'll help to define the content strategy and delivery framework for digital solutions in our BigFuture portfolio. You are a key member of a digital product team, working alongside software engineers, UX and UI designers, researchers, creative strategists, and fellow content engineers, among others. Your work accelerates our efforts to be the top destination for students and their families who come to BigFuture and College Board for guidance in setting a vision for their future. You'll help these students and College Board make those goals more attainable.

In this role, you will:

Content Strategy and Design (33%)

  • Synthesize user needs and business requirements to contribute to a clear, scalable strategy for deploying information about colleges and careers in all forms-text, media, and data-across our digital products

  • Design, test, and implement effective and innovative content-driven digital experiences in our products, in collaboration with UX/UI design and research

  • Determine when and how to leverage the use of structured content and implement content management solutions to support delivery of key information to our users

Content and Metadata Modeling (33%)

  • Develop and refine structured content and metadata models in the form of authoring templates, implementation specs, or other documentation to enable delivery of new student-facing features

  • Map the components of structured content and metadata throughout the delivery pipeline, ensuring alignment and data integrity from content creation to feature development to end user interaction

Content Management and Workflow (33%)

  • Contribute to the development of workflows and processes for creating and maintaining the content of the product over time

  • Be the voice of the content creator at College Board, ensuring that content workflows, lifecycles, and supporting tools are sustainable over the life of the product

About You

You have:

  • 3-5 years' experience designing content or data models and workflows for digital products

  • Experience using an enterprise content management system like Drupal is preferred

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, including using data to inform recommendations

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and an ability break down complex concepts for a non-technical audience using data, words, and visualizations

  • Strong negotiation skills and a willingness to collaborate and find middle ground

  • A self-starter mentality-you enjoy getting into the weeds and untangling complex ecosystems

  • Proven ability to build relationships and influence others to action

  • Passion for supporting educational and career opportunities for millions of students

About Our Culture

  • Our community matters, and we strive to practice and improve our culture daily. Here are some headlines:

  • We are motivated to positively impact the educational and career trajectories of millions of students a year

  • We prioritize building a diverse and inclusive team where every employee can thrive, and every voice is heard

  • We welcome staff to join any or all six of our affinity groups: ARISE (Alliance for Asian Retention, Inclusion, Success, and Engagement; DIASPORA (Alliance for Pan-African Success and Achievement); Pride (alliance for LGBTQ+ staff and allies); Resilience (alliance for Native staff and advocates); SALSA (Staff Alliance for Latinx Success and Achievement); and WIN (Women's Impact Network)

  • We value learning and growth; we offer formal and informal ways to lead through your superpowers, sharpen your strengths, and meet your development goals
