Purpose of the Role: The Safety Engineer is responsible for supporting the EHS Director as well as AMP-NA plants in the development and management of Ardagh's safety programs and projects. This position will drive safety and create a culture that leads to zero harm to our team members through proactive, risk-based programs that engage with AMP-NA manufacturing plants.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Develop and maintain safety written programs and related documents (forms, templates, etc.).
Oversee management of internal audits, including conducting audits, generating reports, and generating relevant action items and tracking of same.
Perform analysis of safety data to identify trends and data points indicating where action is needed.
Responsible for managing vendor programs, including audiometric exams, industrial hygiene audits, safety shoes program, etc.
Manage incident investigation and management, including leading investigation teams, facilitating 8D root cause analysis, create action plans, develop Safety Alerts, track closure of action items in Ardagh Risk Management system.
Develop Job Safety Analysis.
Support the development of annual EHS budgets and capital projects.
Support Machine Guarding Audits including but not limited to managing and tracking corrective actions.
Assist the corporate EHS team in the development of annual OSHA training as well as BSafe safety audits.
Recognize health and safety noncompliance matters as well as lead AMP-NA plants in providing solutions to these noncompliance matters.
Respond to regulatory request and assessments as well as provide solutions to any enforcement actions.
Liaison for property inspection by insurance carrier and will also be responsible for facilitating the completion of findings
Responsible for OSHA Logs as well as annual entry into the OSHA database
Assist AMP-NA plants in ISO 45001 compliance and corrective actions.
Corporate resource for security systems and issues.
Timely and effectively communicates with AMP-NA plant personnel concerning federal, state, and local authorities on health and safety compliance issues.
Interact with the company's worker's compensation third party administrator to ensure timely and appropriate administration of worker's compensation claims.
A B.S. in Industrial Safety and Health or a related field.
A minimum of 3 years of H&S experience.
Experience generating, preparing, and writing compliance reports is required.
Ability to interpret regulations and assist industrial plants with compliance solutions.
Exceptional organizational skills are required to manage/support multiple concurrent projects.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong technical writing abilities.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required.
