This role will report to the Commercial Insurance (C.I.) Casualty Product Manager.

 

JOB SUMMARY:

The Casualty Product Development Specialist will lead the development, implementation and maintenance of various middle market-focused commercial casualty insurance products that are critical to C.I.’s growth, profit and compliance priorities. 

The role entails collaboration with Lines of Business and Industry Practices underwriting, General Counsel, Operations, Claims, Information Technology, Actuary and other internal business partner stakeholders across C.I. to:



  • Bring new policy contracts, endorsements and other product offerings from initial concept to deployment.




  • Participate in the development of C.I. casualty growth, profit, portfolio-protection and regulatory compliance strategies.  Ensure the necessary product is available to meet underwriting intent and achieve strategic business goals. 




  • System-support and file new product in alignment with business goals, operational efficiency objectives and regulatory requirements.




  • Maintain the existing product library and ensure that it meets current needs.




  • Develop and system-support underwriting guidance for using contracts and forms.




  • Develop and maintain class codes and rates.




  • Respond to state regulatory inquires and objections.




  • Review casualty manuscript endorsements to ensure they meet underwriting needs and intent.




  • Monitor ISO activity and competitor trends and determine what action C.I. Casualty must take in response.

  • Strong liability insurance skillset.




  • Strong understanding of General Liability, Automobile and Excess Casualty coverage concepts.




  • Familiar with, or desire to learn, the technical nuances of insurance policy wording.




  • Familiar with, or desire to learn, the processes behind system-supporting policy forms.




  • Detail-oriented and technically skilled.




  • Effective written and verbal skills.




  • Critical thinking --  balance the big picture and the small details    while achieving results. 




  • Experience presenting to senior leaders.



 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:



  • 5-7 years of liability insurance experience: underwriting, or product development or policy drafting preferred. 




  • Demonstrated proficiency in, and/or inclination to deepen, casualty underwriting expertise.




  • Proficient in the skills that are outlined above.




  • 4-year college degree is preferred.




  • Location is open to where the individual resides.  Travel to Whitehouse Station is anticipated.
