SUMMARY: Responsible for managing Crowley Government Services environmental and Operational Integrity programs by addressing environmental and safety concerns, ensuring compliance, resiliency, sustainability, and continual improvement.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Perform environmental inspections to assess environmental performance.
  • Respond to inquiries from facilities, consultants, contracted inspectors or government officials regarding environmental practices and operations.
  • Monitor changes to environmental rules and regulations providing summaries of impacts and recommendations to meet requirements.
  • Ensure environmental records are current, available and able to meet all correspondence deadlines or regulatory review. Develop proactive measures to ensure quality standards are met, and investigate and assist in resolution.
  • Maintain positive relations with contractors/consultants, customers, federal, state and local governmental agencies.
  • Publish occurrence announcements and ensure standardization on continual improvement initiatives and corrective actions.
  • Evaluate new methods to minimize operational environmental impact. Assist internal and external auditors during environmental audits. .
  • Conduct and coordinate safety, facilities, and compliance stakeholder engagement and assessments. Work directly onsite with operations personnel to identify and mitigate hazards as well as other multidisciplinary teams within and outside of our business unit.
  • Prepare timely findings with recommendations for corrective actions and integration into the EHS platform. Manage and/or participate in the investigation of near misses and incidents, trending issues, identifying root causes, lead learning teams and provide mitigation support.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate and business unit procedures and policies as well as local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Develop standardization and best practices to safety processes, templates, and practices. Use technical expertise to provide feedback and/or suggest improvements.
  • Interpret and evaluate the accumulation of data; and develop appropriate controls to mitigate hazards related to high-risk operations.
  • Champion the safety culture, perform operational assessments to review the effectiveness and efficiency of safety and environmental practices and procedures. Identify training requirements and facilitate the development and implementation of safety and environmental training programs.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences/engineering, occupational safety and health, marine engineering/transportation or related scientific or management discipline; or a combination of post-high school and equal experience may be substituted for education.

EXPERIENCE: 7 years of professional/managerial experience in environmental compliance and management with environmental improvement initiatives, safety, health and environmental management, petroleum operations management, maritime, and/or transportation. Additional experience in the maritime industry with emergency management or business continuity management preferred.

TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY: Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook and Word.

COMPETENCIES: Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal/external business partners. Ability to function effectively with, or as part of, a team. Ability to effectively manage projects that may vary in nature and scope. Ability to work with minimal supervision and make independent decisions in order to implement company environmental programs. Ability to apply skill sets and demonstrate proven experience developing, improving and streamlining processes to meet established goals and objectives. Ability to develop and present presentations. Ability to adapt to changing work demands. Ability to analyze customer, local, state and federal environmental requirements and initiatives and make recommendations to business unit and corporate leadership on necessary actions. Ability to influence outcomes and behaviors of individuals outside of direct reporting relationships. capable of gaining knowledge and comprehension of federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations regarding environmental maritime regulatory compliance, preferably Bulk Fuel Facilities.

OTHER: Ability to travel is required.

JOB SCOPE: Position impacts multiple business units/segments.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Works both inside an office environment and also outside in conditions of both high and low temperatures. May be exposed to odors, dust, dirt, mechanical hazards, high noise levels and potentially dangerous equipment. Must be able to crouch and stoop to get into areas with restricted headroom and be able to climb ladders. May require extended use of computer keyboard and viewing of computer monitor and ability to sit for long periods of time.

FLSA STATUS: The position is Exempt. May require the ability to work overtime to meet required deadlines. All work rules, including those that pertain to safety and health are expected to be respected and complied.
