Zingerman's Roadhouse is hiring a Maintenance Technician!

The Maintenance Technician reports to the Restaurant Manager and is responsible for the repair, maintenance and proper use and cleaning of all Roadhouse equipment as well as the upkeep of the physical restaurant.

Pay Range: $17-$18/hour

What are the requirements and skills needed for this job?
Availability:

Must be able to work 40-45 hours per week usually over five days, including early mornings and late nights.
Weekend and Holiday availability. We are closed Thanksgiving and Christmas Day, and Memorial day.
Full availability for communication using personal phone
On-call for off hours emergency needs. (we are cooking 19-20 hrs a day).

Performance Expectations - Essential Functions:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the following:

Participates with Roadhouse managers and Restaurant Manager in equipment purchase and installation.
Annual Planning and budget prep with Restaurant Manager for the Maintenance Department.
Establishes daily, weekly, and monthly priorities for equipment and facility maintenance with the goal to minimize breakdowns and support smooth, uninterrupted business operations.
Maintains an organized and properly stocked maintenance shed to ensure the highest levels of efficiency, productivity, and cost savings.
Orders (with approval), stocks, and inventories spare parts as needed.
Performs or assists in the performance of maintenance repairs as appropriate and possible. Learns to repair some of the common issues of unique roadhouse equipment.
Schedules outside vendors and obtains approval from Restaurant Manager for contract work as needed
Works with vendors to obtain competitive quotes for equipment, parts, labor and oversees performed services and renders approvals for said work.
Ensures workplace safety through the enforcement of all applicable safety rules and requirements.
Conducts all maintenance and repair work in accordance with the current health code.
Schedule and participate in emergency on-call shifts and after-hours maintenance.
Maintains a computer based system to track preventive maintenance programs and to schedule preventive maintenance services.
Participates in developing and implementing new methods, procedures, and systems to improve facility maintenance and sanitation performance
Assists in managing documentation including but not limited to operating manuals, facility drawings, and other relevant documentation for the facility and equipment
Communicates equipment and facility repair status with department managers and operations as necessary
Participates in and attends Roadhouse weekly all staff huddle

Maintenance at the Roadhouse is a hands-on position.
Requirements:

Must have a Valid Michigan Driver's License
The ability to deal successfully with multiple tasks and high stress situations
At least 2 years of related maintenance experience with restaurant equipment, HVAC / Universal EPA, refrigeration, electrical and or plumbing.
Familiarity with food safety procedures and equipment requirements is preferred.

Physical Demands:

Able to relocate up to 50 pounds repeatedly during an 9-10 hour shift.
Comfortable standing, lifting and bending for duration of an 9-10 hour shift.
Able to walk up and down a stairwell.
Comfortable working on ladders and along with rooftops.
Has no known allergies to cleaning liquids or compounds.
