Job Description
Works directly with Production and Quality Assurance to design efficient tooling to maximize load density while meeting all customer specifications and quality requirements. Continually review existing jobs to improve efficiencies of racking and develop tools to assist in making jobs more efficient and improve quality. Develop written procedures for rack maintenance and quality plans relating to tooling.
OBJECTIVES/ACTIVITIES:

Build and adjust Racks and tooling to maximize load density and efficiency. Such as but not limited:

Maximum amount of parts per rack load.
Tooling will ensure good electrical contact.
Racks will securely hold product to prevent loss of parts or contact.
Proper part placement to prevent air pocketing, give adequate drainage, etc
Fabricating racks to meet customer requirements.
Develop hand tools for rackers and unrackers to improve efficiency and quality.
Work directly with hand/air/ power tools, gauges and measuring instruments.
Work closely with the quality department when writing procedures for both special tooling and basic production tooling.
Work directly with Production and Team Leader/Supervisor to determine daily priorities needed on tooling requirements, maintenance schedules and procedures for both special tooling and basic production
Advise Supervisor if tooling needs cannot be met on time and together decide what to do

Develop skills for Mig and Tig welding of aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, and steel.
Performs some machining operations such as, but not limited to drilling, Milling, reaming, tapping, grinding, cutting, etc.

Recognize operating irregularities and machine malfunctions and notify designated person or Supervisor
Performs other miscellaneous job duties and related functions as assigned by the Tooling Supervisor or other designated person.
Maintains a positive attitude, promoting teamwork between Tooling, Production and QA departments.

Must exhibit communication skills to work with various departments and work directly with applicable vendors.


Physical/Environmental/Chemical Hazards:

Repetitive lifting up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
Sharp parts, sharp tooling, heavy carts, occasional hot and cold temperature and humidity levels, heat from ovens, moderate noise levels, limited hand and air tool use, compressed air (must use hearing protection).
Must be able to differentiate between color variance.
Potential splash exposure near process lines.
Responsibilities are repetitive in nature.
Various chemicals used in process.


Position Requirements:

1-2 years related experience strongly preferred.
Fabrication and welding experience desired.
Highly motivated
Creative
Accurately communicate through both oral and written communication
Strong attention to detail and organization
Requires strong mechanical aptitude
Must be able to work in a team atmosphere
Strong ability to multi-task and prioritize projects
Good oral and written communication skills.
