RESPONSIBILITIES
With the ever-accelerating technological advances and growing system complexity, NSA needs Engineers to integrate systems, reduce the cost to operate and maintain systems & to design, develop, construct and test electronic hardware and software processing components. These components are typically subsystems of communication, collection, processing or analysis systems. NSA Engineering interns are hired into positions supporting a broad range of specialized skills including Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Programming, Computer Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Communications Engineering. Responsibilities may include: - Designing, developing, testing and/or evaluating computer or computer-related equipment. - Programming, modifying and/or configuring system software that manages the computer hardware and provides services to the applications. - Applying software engineering principles to design, develop, test, and evaluate/modify software applications. - Craft high-level system design, specify system/component performance and interface requirements and develop installations, integration and acceptance test plans. PAY BENEFITS & WORK SCHEDULE
- Students are paid a competitive salary commensurate with their education level. - Receive annual leave, sick leave and paid federal holidays. - Participation in agency-wide extracurricular programs. - Students who attend school in excess of 75 miles from Ft. Meade, MD are eligible for a round trip airfare ticket to and from school or mileage reimbursement up to the cost of a government-issued airline ticket. Travel reimbursement will not be provided to our location in Hawaii. - Daily transportation to and from work is NOT provided. Students participating in the program are highly encouraged to bring a vehicle. Carpooling with other students MAY be available, but is NOT guaranteed. - Subsidized housing accommodations are available upon request if school is located in excess of 75 miles from NSA's main HQs campus. Housing accommodations are NOT provided for any of our field sites.
POSITION SUMMARY
As an Engineering and Physical Science professional, you will use your skills to create the systems and tools that will be used to enhance the operation of intelligence. You will advise, administer and perform scientific projects, such as planning, designing, and constructing specialized equipment, and ensuring adherence to sound engineering and scientific standards and principles. The NSA offers multiple areas of focus for facilities engineers, including computer, architectural, electrical, mechanical, and structural. In addition, we are seeking skills that include computer design, microelectronics, radio frequency design, and systems engineering. Apply your science and engineering skills to protect the nation.
