Investment Analyst - High Yield Credit

Downtown Columbus, Ohio

Target Salary Range: $87,568 - $109,470.40 Annually

The Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS) has a 60-person investment staff that manages a $100 billion portfolio of diversified assets across public and private markets. Our division works to ensure the long-term financial health of the Plan, which benefits over one million Ohioans who have dedicated their careers to public service. We seek someone with solid research and analytical abilities to join our High Yield Credit team. You will help maintain, grow, and oversee certain sectors and companies in our bond portfolio. You will work with a team of knowledgeable investment professionals in an exciting and stable environment where no two days will ever be alike!

 

What you’ll do

  • Conduct thorough research of issuers in assigned sectors to understand key drivers of performance and risk
  • Develop tools and processes to analyze individual securities or portfolios in order to maintain sound investment opinions of relative valuations of securities and assigned sectors
  • Monitor performance and risk of securities
  • Assists the High Yield Portfolio Manager with sector allocation decisions based on relative value assessment of assigned sectors
  • Maintain positive relationships with company management, rating agencies, sell-side analysts, and other key contacts to evaluate current and future company performance.
  • Learn and specialize in covered sectors, providing industry expertise to others within the Fixed Income department
  • Build and maintain working relationships with other investment professionals in the Investment Division to share ideas and information on industries and companies jointly covered

What you’ll bring

  • A bachelor's degree is required with a master's or MBA being preferred
  • At least 3 years of investments experience
  • Must be proficient with basic to intermediate experience with Internet Web Browsers (e.g., Edge or Chrome) and MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Experience with Bloomberg
  • The CFA is strongly preferred
  • The ability to become licensed as a State Retirement System Investment Officer (SRSIO) within six months of hire and to abide by the OPERS Personal Trading Policy is required
