Travel Required: Some travel required

Work Schedule: As required/minimum 40 hours per week minimum 30 minute lunch break.
Weekends, Evenings and Holidays will be required occasionally.


Position Summary: Under the supervision of the County Administrator and Assistant County Administrator, this position is responsible for the management and operation of the Western State Bank Expo Center. The employee in this position will assist County Administration in the dispersing of public information and other public relations tasks as requested. This position requires a high level of skill in the areas of communication, leadership, organization, and public relations.

Essential Function Statement(s)

Market the use of the Expo Center through business relationship building, advertising, recruitment, public speaking events and presentations;
Administer and enforce all contracts for events held in the Expo Center according to facility rules, regulations, policies and procedures;
Coordinate the review and revision of facility usage policies and fees;
Reporting any maintenance or repair needs to the Maintenance and Grounds Supervisor through a written work order;
Work with the Human Resource department to meet staffing needs including the hiring, discipline, and termination of subordinate personnel;
Serve as primary contact for event clients- determine and meet their needs in order to make their event successful and accomplish or exceed their goals. Maintain positive rapport and form strong relationships with clients, local businesses, area tourism agencies, and public entities in the promotion of Ford County as a venue of choice;
Prepare and maintain detailed production notes for each event. Utilize community partners and County resources to procure specialized needs per event. (Including but not limited to operations, security, food & beverage, media, etc.);
Follow County procedures for the timely reporting of purchase orders, taxes, cash management, and audit requirements;
Schedule production meetings and work cooperatively with Expo staff and other stakeholders as required per specific event needs;
Address questions, concerns, and complaints from the general public;
Assist with the annual budget for the Expo facility; manage event expenses and keep within budgetary parameters;
Monitor and update County event calendars, LED signs, social media, and website pages for relevant and accurate information;
Attend meetings and events as a representative of Ford County when requested;



MARGINAL FUNCTIONS

Performs other duties as deemed necessary or assigned.


Position qualifications

Possess valid Kansas driver's license
I-9 eligible to work in the United States
Pass a post-offer drug screen, health assessment and background check.


SKILLS & ABILITIES
Experience: 2 years of business management or a hospitality-related field.

Education: High School diploma or equivalent is required. A degree in public or business administration, marketing, or public relations is preferred.

Skills: Knowledge of budget, financing, and accounting policies and procedures. Working knowledge of Excel spreadsheets and other Microsoft Office programs.

Problem Solving: Decision-making and analytical skills are required.

Accountability: The employee is responsible for budgetary control of the Expo Center and does participate in the annual budget process.

Supervision: This position does have supervisory responsibility over subordinate personnel.

Personal Relations: Constant contact with people in various positions both public and private.

Working Conditions: This position is administrative but may require occasional work with livestock and adverse weather conditions.
