What will I be doing?

This Lead Software Engineer role is an outstanding opportunity to use your programming talents to validate cyber security task automation, enable fast response, provide control measurement and reporting, and improve investments in existing technology solutions through API integration. You will play an important role in developing and maintaining custom programs, tool integrations, improving methods for measuring controls, and finding new ways to improve Hilton’s security incident response capability.

More specifically, you will:


  •  Develop software that permits measurement of configurations, performance, anomaly detection, and standards conformance.

  •  Improve the development of tool integrations through product APIs.

  •  Collaborate with Hilton Cloud architecture groups, and DevOps teams, to further develop information security automation systems.

  •  Work to integrate, and further develop, Agile software development practices and adoption of CI/CD DevOps tools/processes (e.g., Bamboo, GitLab).

  •  Build, manage, and maintain documentation in the form of architectural diagrams including system-level services, data flow, and networking.

  •  Establish, improve, and apply secure coding practices including ongoing maintenance of secure code repositories, code error checking, and processes including static and dynamic code analysis.

  •  Partner with other Global Information Security team members to review and ensure development and automation systems are secure.

  •  Build and check resilient tasks that involve multiple moving parts.

What are we looking for?

We believe the success in this role will demonstrate itself through the following attributes and skills:


  • An experienced C# developer with experience developing .NET backend applications for monitoring and managing IT infrastructure from a security perspective

  • Solid grasp of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)

  • Experience writing applications to collect bulk data using external tool/vendor API libraries

  • Strong SQL background with experience in database design, creation of tables and views, writing queries with complex joins, and development of automated reports

  • Strong problem-solving skills and written and verbal communication

  • A self-motivated individual who can work independently

  • Collaborative and interpersonal teammates who build positive relationships, exhibit tact, and earn trust

To fulfill this role successfully, you should demonstrate the following minimum qualifications:


  • Seven (7) years of overall work experience in Technology or related field

  • Four (4) years of software development experience in a medium to large corporate environment

  • Three (3) years of experience developing C# applications, including multithreaded data processing

  • Solid grasp of working with Microsoft SQL Server and Entity Framework

  • Experience with automation of Windows Administration tasks using PowerShell/WMI and Active Directory

It would be useful in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:


  • Bachelor’s Degree, or Associate’s Degree plus 6+ years of Technology related experience, or High School Degree/GED plus 12+ years of Technology related experience

  • Three (3) years of experience building applications for infrastructure monitoring, management, and automation

  • Two (2) years of experience integrating with and developing APIs using REST or GraphQL

  • Two (2) years of experience using LDAP tools and developing applications that integrate with Active Directory or LDAP

  • Two (2) years of experience developing reports and dashboards in Splunk

  • Two (2) years developing backend applications with languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, or Java

  • Two (2) years spent developing frontend applications with JavaScript frameworks such as Angular or React

  • Two (2) years of experience with additional database management and technologies such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite RDBMS, and NoSQL environments

  • Two (2) years of experience with network security or system security development

  • One (1) year using DevOps tools and CI/CD toolchains such as Atlassian or GitLab

  • Experience with Data Analysis to estimate and validate the impact of system changes

  • CISSP, CSSLP, OSCP, or other relevant security or software engineering technical certification
