KGTV the E.W. Scripps owned ABC affiliate in San Diego, CA, is looking for experienced & creative photographers to join our team in sunny California. Our specialty photographers are responsible for special projects content for use on multiple platforms. As an NPPA-style station, we are looking for self-motivated creators who want to win with every story they tell.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:


  • Capture and edit visual content with a focus on special projects for multiple platforms.

  • Assist newsroom personnel with story creation and development, including research, undercover, surveillance and interviews.

  • Knowledge of and proficiency in posting content to station's Web sites.

  • Conduct field interviews.

  • Utilize a variety of cameras, technologies and advanced lighting techniques to create visually compelling stories, including but not limited to Sony PXW-X320 XD cameras..

  • Hi-8, lipstick cameras, 3 point lighting, soft box, backlighting and two camera interview lighting.

  • Knowledge and demonstration of creativity, editorial judgment, journalistic ethics and libel laws.

  • Drive company vehicle for business purposes.

  • In the event of a local wildfire, stay at the station or in the field to help support the news organization.

  • Schedule may include working evenings and weekends.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:


  • ProAdvanced knowledge of lighting and computer based editing, including Final Cut.

  • 2+ years experience as a photographer preferred (please note – this is referring to videography and not still photography).

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:


  • Knowledge and demonstration of creativity, editorial judgment, journalistic ethics and libel laws.

  • Knowledge of and proficiency in posting content to station's web sites.

  • Able to work efficiently under multiple deadlines on a daily basis.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required. In addition, proof of insurance and liability coverage may be required.
