Who We Are Looking For:

Over the past five years, our Funding Team has secured more than $1.5B in grant/loan money for communities and utilities, jump-starting projects nationwide. These communities have leveraged this money into beneficial water and environment projects, creating real, lasting change for the planet.

We are looking for an Infrastructure Funding Leader will lead the work to identify funding opportunities and grant writing and loan application/proposals to secure funding for environmental, community development, brownfield, energy, and sustainability projects. You will lead our North Region Funding team on various planning projects at Woodard & Curran. You will also lead a portion of the project finance/funding process for the organization, delivering projects to municipalities and institutions that we serve.

This role can be located in any of our Northeast offices or virtually within the Northeast region.

 

What You Will Be Doing at Woodard & Curran:


  • Oversee and supports Funding Specialists with the development of grant and loan applications.

  • Participate in project kickoff and coordination calls with clients to discuss candidate grant projects and request relevant information on the infrastructure project seeking funding. 

  • Develop and maintain an understanding of existing and potential clients’ capital improvement programs to inform potential matches between priority projects in need of funding and funding opportunities.

  • Lead client engagement with appropriate internal coordination on comprehensive grant planning and execution for client's priorities.

  • Develop and maintain high level relationships within funding agencies.

  • Strategically utilize outside resources (partners, sub consultants, political advocates, etc.) to achieve client and project goals.

  • Organize and lead agency or multi-agency meetings to negotiate funding client priorities.

  • Conduct and coordinate internal funding meetings with Client Managers and Practice Leaders.

  • Lead the development of proposals in the pursuit of new work, as it relates to funding and finance.


  • Knowledge and experience with topics such as regional economic trends, demographics served by the project, and environmental impacts.

  • Knowledge of financial principles as it relates to Municipal budgets and planning.

  • Knowledge of municipal politics and understanding of governmental funding processes and priorities.

What You Will Need to Succeed:
 


  • Bachelor’s degree and 15+ years in planning, economics, public policy, engineering, or public or business administration.

  • Grant writing experience a plus!

  • Ability to analyze data and identify market trends and related grant/loan funding opportunities.

  • An interest in understanding funding/finance of water, wastewater, stormwater, community development, brownfield, energy and climate resilience projects.
