Job Description:

As a Benefits Specialist, you will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of assigned benefits programs/plans including health care coverage, life insurance, disability, workers' compensation, leaves of absence, unemployment, flexible spending accounts, retirement plan, time-off-with-pay and other benefit plans.



  • Responsible for accurate and efficient administration of assigned benefit programs/plans, including eligibility, enrollments, claims, billing, reporting, etc.

  • Routinely evaluates benefit plans for potential changes and suggests solutions and enhancements to manager. Stays abreast of technology advancements to identify opportunities for streamlining processes and/or improving service.

  • Listens to and resolves employee/participant questions and issues by providing quality customer service. Assists employees in understanding and how to utilize benefit options.

  • Communicates with benefit plan vendors on claims, coverage, plan design, administration and billing as needed.
    Prepares benefit plan communication pieces as needed when plan changes arise or as periodic refresher for employees and leaders. Generate ideas on how to promote program awareness.

  • Maintenance of benefit plan reports, summaries of plan issues, statistics, legal discrimination testing, ad hoc reports or summaries.

  • Update internal communication pieces, such as benefit guides, intranet site as appropriate.

  • Stays abreast of general legal requirements that may impact assigned programs/plans. Stays abreast of changes to all benefit programs to be able to respond to basic benefit questions.

  • Monitors weekly payroll and processes necessary adjustments.

  • Assists ES leaders in reviewing potential benefit plans and vendors. Actively participates on implementation team for new benefit programs and/or vendors. Actively assists in developing/updating program design, procedures, communication materials, etc. to ensure smooth transition for employees.

  • Monitors/audits assigned benefit programs to ensure programs are functioning as expected. Addresses issues identified during audits.

  • Consults with manager when issue is beyond the scope of typical issues.

  • Documents procedures for all assigned benefit programs.

  • Must follow all safe work practices, escalate unsafe conditions and report incidents.


Skills:



  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    Strong math skills.
    Ability to work with minimal supervision and to adapt to an ever-changing and fast paced environment. Previous proven experience in developing and setting priorities. Strong organizational and planning skills.
    Proficient computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office products. The ability to navigate using internet browsers. Competent in Lands' End computer systems and vendor websites if applicable.
    Strong interpersonal skills.
    Excellent customer service skills, including the ability to listen effectively, focusing on the customer's needs with strong follow-through to ensure customer satisfaction.
    Ability to understand and interpret basic insurance and legal documents. Ability to apply knowledge or research answers as questions and circumstances arise.
    Ability to be flexible to meet changing priorities.
    Ability to adhere to Lands’ End Attendance program. For hourly full-time positions: Must be able to work a 40 hour work week and be available for overtime as business needs arise (e.g. peak season). For hourly flexible part-time positions: Must be able to adhere to hours scheduled based on specific business needs (e.g. increased availability for hours during peak season).
