BS in Computer science, Information security, or another related computer field
GIAC GCFW, GCIA and GSEC or Security+ certification preferred.
One to three years professional experience working with core security concepts.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Strong knowledge of TCP/IP.
Demonstrated ability to understand complex security issues.
Self-starter. Ability to work alone or as part of team.
Strong interpersonal skills; ability to interact with co-workers at all levels.
Ability to handle multiple priorities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Good attention to detail.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Perform daily network and host security monitoring, traffic analysis and intrusion detection.
Conduct daily review of firewall, IDS, and other security logs.
Take appropriate actions to safeguard company information assets against current and foreseen threats.
Perform threat hunting to detect and isolate threats, providing reporting and remediation recommendations.
Maintain proactive, consistent communications with the management team on system or network security issues, status and projects.
Assist the security manager in security incident investigations
Provide technical security assistance to network and help desk personnel in the areas of password management, email security, firewall/IDS configurations, and other relevant topics.
Assist in documenting information security practices, policies and procedures
Assist in providing information security training to all employees, contractors, vendors, and other third parties.
Assist in conducting internal information security audits.
Assist in performing information security risk assessments.
Assist in the enforcement and documentation of FISMA compliance controls.
Provide support in compliance reviews of security controls.
