This Environmental Remediation Quality Control (QC) Specialist position will support projects for federal, state, municipal, and commercial clients. The candidate will be responsible for overseeing quality control at environmental remediation projects in Mid-Atlantic and New England states. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of the quality control program at the sites related to remedial construction and operation and maintenance. this position requires the employee to be a U.S. Citizen due to the projects they will be working on.

Your Role :

The remediation projects may involve construction of remedies at hazardous waste sites, including landfill caps, soil vapor extraction systems, ex-situ and in-situ groundwater treatment approaches, stream restoration, sediment options, and soil removal actions. You will coordinate activities of other Tetra Tech staff at the sites. You will also work closely with the site superintendent of the construction contractor to ensure work activities comply with the project quality requirements. The candidate will work collaboratively with and under the supervision of a Tetra Tech project manager. Prior experience with environmental cleanup projects is required.
The successful candidate will conduct various aspects of quality control and inspection activities associated with general construction and environmental projects at hazardous waste sites. Serves as Tetra Tech's agent for all aspects of quality control processes and protocols and ensures projects are safely completed in concert with specifications and drawings, project statement of work, and contract quality control requirements.

• Act as Engineer's agent in observing progress and quality of work.
• Report and work with construction managers employed by Tetra Tech or subcontractors.
• Attend progress meetings, job conferences, and other related meetings.
• Prepare meeting minutes and distribute to all attendees.
• Record dates of shop drawings, correspondence, deliveries, and submittals.
• Maintain orderly files of all project-related activities and correspondence.
• Prepare Daily Reports of construction activities and job-related correspondence.
• Consider, evaluate, and report to Engineer contractor's suggestions for modifications to drawings and/or specifications.
• Conduct daily inspections and report to Engineer work that does not comply with the intent of plans and approved submittals.
• Observe field testing for compliance and report deficiencies to Engineer.
• Prepare monthly progress reports and present to Engineer for client meetings.
• Review contractor progress payment requests.
• Assist with development of overall project procurement planning, project engineering and support staffing plans.

Qualifications :

B.S. or B.A. degree from accredited institution in relevant engineering or science discipline (civil, chemical, environmental) is required.

• Minimum 5 years of applicable experience working on environmental restoration and remediation projects or environmental construction projects.

• Be highly motivated, customer focused, and work well in a team environment.
• Be able to manage a heavy workload.
• Have excellent communication, client interaction, and organizational skills.
• Have proficiency with MS Office applications.
• Have experience with cost-reimbursement type contracts.
• Pass a motor vehicle record background check and maintain a valid driver's license.
• Knowledge of engineering plans, specifications, practices and methods.
• Knowledge of construction standards, inspection methods. and techniques.
• Self-confident with the ability to communicate effectively with project managers, client staff and contractor's superintendent.
• Computer proficiency with Microsoft applications and Critical Path Method scheduling
• Certification from U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as completing Construction Quality Management for Contractors or the equivalent.
