Position Details:



Summary of Duties:


The Fiscal Specialist, under general supervision, performs fiscal administrative support functions for the Department of Physics and Astronomy, using independent judgment in applying policies, procedures and guidelines. The duties of this position includes, but are not limited to: maintaining a comprehensive system for monitoring fiscal activity; coordinating purchasing functions and expenditure control; supporting payroll and personnel functions; and coordinating departmental travel.



Depending on the level of experience of the final candidate, the successful applicant may be hired as a Fiscal Technician 3 (FT3) or a Fiscal Specialist 1 (FS1).





Required Qualifications:




FT3 (Salary range $2,864.00 - $3,701.00):




  • High school diploma, or GED certificate AND fifteen quarter hours or ten semester hours of college-level accounting or bookkeeping AND two years of full-time experience as a Fiscal Technician, or equivalent, including experience using accounting-related software; An Associate of Arts Degree, or equivalent, in accounting or business may substitute for one year of required experience. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.






FS1 (Salary range $3,144.00 - $4,083.00):




  • Three years of fiscal record keeping experience; OR equivalent education/experience.






For all applicants:




  • Proficiency with computer software (Microsoft Office applications) and database applications.






Preferred Qualifications for all applicants:




  • Cash handling training.




  • Knowledge of university business policies and procedures.
