Basic Job Functions:
Will lead development tests on factory equipment on 2nd shift. This will involve material staging and prepping, as well as directing the workflow of other technicians and operators. May assist in troubleshooting of conveyor systems and robots to enable test execution.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent and 2 years of experience as a Development Engineer Technician II at First Solar.
Associate’s Degree in an engineering discipline or similar technical discipline and 10 years of relevant technical experience or 2 years of experience as a Development Engineer Technician II at First Solar.
Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline or similar technical discipline and 5 years of relevant technical experience or 2 years of experience as a Development Engineer Technician II at First Solar.
Proficient in a wide array of tools/processes/procedures with the ability to train others, develop best practices, and identify safety risks.
Experienced in independently resolving moderate process/equipment issues on the production line or the lab.
Ability to learn the operation of the production line, and how to most efficiently run tests.
Good to excellent knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Ability to communicate on a regular basis with all levels of associates and train lower level technicians.
Proven competency in sample preparation and measurement.
Excellent problem-solving ability.
Plan, coordinate, and execute engineering tests (ETAs) on production line, coupon line, or laboratory, including coordination of other technicians and other teams on 2nd shift.
Tracking and logistics of executed tests.
Using SQL and/or JMP analytical software to do tracking/logistical work during execution of tests.
Works under minimal supervision. Will assist in orienting, mentoring, and training lower level employees.
Duties and tasks are frequently non-routine. Resolves most questions and problems, and refers only the most complex issues to higher level.
Will summarize issues observed during execution of tests in an informal manner to the team for awareness.
US Physical Requirements:
Will sit, stand, or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift
Will climb stairs on an occasional basis
Will lift, push, or pull up to 27 pounds on an occasional basis
Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis
20/40 vision in each eye, with or without correction is required
Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures
May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis
May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis
Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective jacket or apron and arm guards)
All associates working on the production floor may be required to wear a respirator at any given time and thus, the ability to wear a respirator is a condition of employment and continued employment (requires little or no facial hair)
