Role:
The primary purpose of this position is to provide insurance based product and service solutions to our credit union membership, select employer groups (SEGs) and the general public.
The Insurance Agent will be familiar with all EAS insurance lines and be primarily responsible for the following product areas:

Counsel clients and prospects on matters of their personal insurance coverage. Provide solutions through the sale of Auto, Home, Life and other insurance products. |

Build relationships with existing clients to facilitate the retention of our book of business. |

Provide quality customer service to all clients and prospects with a high level of accuracy, efficiency and consistency. Perform administrative tasks, such as properly completing applications and maintaining records. |

Maintain and improve working environment by utilizing team and communication skills. Support Empower Federal Credit Union's culture by participating in training, marketing and Credit Union Committee activities. |

Experience |
Three years to five years of prior successful insurance sales experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Licensing: Current New York State Personal Lines Property and Casualty Insurance License or begin the licensing process as determined by the Insurance Manager. New York State Life/Accident/Health Insurance License may be required as determined by the Insurance Manager. Continuing Education requirements are mandatory in order to maintain licensing. |
Education |
(1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program. |

Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others. |

Communication Skills: Excellent communication and listening skills to build rapport with prospects and clients. Demonstrated persuasion and negotiation skills. Speech clarity to convey complex information in terms the client can understand. Organizational Skills: Time management skills to coordinate and prioritize multiple daily tasks. Analytical Skills: Demonstrate an aptitude for billing, figures and calculations. Strict attention to detail and a high level of organization. Ability to understand complex coverage information and underwriting guidelines. Ability to understand a wide range of products and their specific uses. Ability to analyze data and information. Ability to learn multiple carriers product lines, guidelines, and navigate their different websites and procedures. Technical Skills: General office computer and insurance industry software proficiency is required. Ability to learn and use multiple software tools are essential.
