POSITION SUMMARY:
Currently, we are seeking an experienced Senior Process Engineer for our New Milford, Connecticut Mill to join our Tissue Manufacturing Team.  Process Engineers at Kimberly-Clark initiate designs, develop, optimize and problem solve manufacturing processes in a manner that meets safety and performance expectations. Assignments may vary from individual contributor to program or initiative leadership providing work direction to peers and customers to achieve program or project objectives.  Responsibilities include project results, project control, and effective use of human resources.  The incumbent reports to the Engineering Manager and receives direction in the form of broad assignment objectives. The incumbent will be located at the New Milford Mill but may be required to travel to other sites as needed to support sector projects. 

KEY CUSTOMERS:

Sector Management, Project Sponsors, Staff Engineering, Portfolio Leaders, Mill Leadership, and Mill Asset Teams

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Lead single or multiple product or process improvement projects with a financial scope of up to $30 million from conception through commercialization.

  • Provide functional leadership and creativity in the initiation of design, development, and optimization of manufacturing equipment and processes to meet unit objectives.

  • Develop knowledge and skills to be recognized for expertise and functional leadership in application of engineering principles, scientific analysis, and project management while providing advice and counsel to others.

  • Carry out all job responsibilities in a safe manner.  Develop equipment and processes that meet safety codes, policies, and guidelines.  Provide for the safety and well-being of operators, maintenance, and other personnel.

  • Seek, recognize, define, and solve problems to achieve unit objectives.  Identify complex technical issues to determine root cause.

  • Participate in the development of others within the area of the incumbent's expertise.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Candidates must possess a bachelor's or advanced degree in Chemical and/or Pulp and Paper Engineering from an accredited College or University. Candidates with an Associate, Bachelor, or advanced degree in a relevant scientific discipline and possessing applicable experience may also be considered.

  • Strong experience using manufacturing analysis tools, such as: SPC statistical process control; design of experiments; process capability studies; Six Sigma; Others.

  • Subject matter expert in Family Care converting and/or manufacturing technologies, products, processes, and materials with a demonstrated ability to translate that knowledge into execution of process and capacity improvements in major expense and capital projects.

  • A demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams to achieve project results within required timeframes.

  • A Demonstrated ability to effectively provide work direction to a broad range of team members

  • Strong fundamentals in engineering systems and tools to drive technical innovation

  • Process Engineering / Process Technical expert background

  • Demonstrated knowledge of tools such as PIMS, Plant Apps, and MIDAS
     

PREFFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • 15+ years of experience in a variety of plant and staff assignments, including maintenance and operations.

  • Experience and expertise with manufacturing and converting process engineering technology, procedures, processes, and products.

  • Experience working with external technical service providers.

  • Evidence of continuing self-development.

OTHER SKILLS:


  • Ability to effectively collaborate with a cross-functional team that includes R&E, product supply, mill operations, procurement, marketing, equipment suppliers and external service providers

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Leading and directing a technical team and projects that successfully meet business objectives

WORKING CONDITIONS:


  • Ability to effectively communicate to individuals and groups

  • Ability to work under normal office or virtual conditions

  • Ability to work in manufacturing sites and offices
