This position will offer a one time sign-on bonus of $2,500.

Position Description:

The maintenance instrument technician has the responsibility of maintaining building and equipment assets in Animal Health production areas to meet the need of operations.  

Functions, Duties, Tasks:

Instrument Technicians/Maintenance Electricians (EL/PR) are multi-crafted craftspeople performing predictive/preventative work on electrical and instrumentation needs around the plant site.  This position will be responsible for PMs, removing, repairing, and re-installing malfunctioning equipment per written or verbal instructions using manual and powered tools, testing equipment, performing work on low voltage electrical equipment, and knowledge of medium voltage switching.   

Provide Safe Work Environment - Attends monthly safety meetings and actively participates in the development of action plans to eliminate accidents.  Follows all safety policies and procedures.  Maintains safe and neat work area.

Personal Development - Maintain 100% current on ITP.  Develops Performance Management Plan objectives and actively participates in the Performance Management process.  Makes effort to sharpen craft skills and shares knowledge.  Shows interest in developing skills not necessarily part of their own craft.  Attends departmental training programs.

Satisfy Work Requirements - Flexible with work schedule for business reasons.  Knowledgeable in the use and care of tools.  Accountable for effective cross-shift/functional communications.  Enters complete and thorough WO closing notes into CMMS.

Communication - Seeks out or creates partnerships with operations.  Communicates with customer prior to beginning work to understand and set customer expectations.  Carries job to completion including customer follow-up.

Operates in Compliance with Regulations - Fully integrates QSOPs into daily operations and identifies and initiates changes that are needed.  Follows through and corrects discrepancies found in documentation, drawings, BOMs, etc.  

Basic Minimum Qualification (education, experience and/or training, required certifications):

• Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills, team player, motivated toward proactive maintenance, good troubleshooting skills, good organizational skills, and able to work independently.


• Knowledge of industrial instrumentation equipment (i.e., pressure transmitter, flow control devices, transmitter control devices).


• Formal training and industrial maintenance experience desirable.  Formal training will be a prerequisite for advancement.  Craft level will be determined from experience and training, trouble shooting, diagnosing problems and print reading.


• Knowledge of digital control systems, Allen Bradley PLC, Foxboro IA “fieldbus” instruments.


• High School Diploma or GED with work related experience.


• Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Elanco does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.


• The amount of Overtime (OT) varies by area (department) and individual role.  It is neither consistent nor regular.  It will fluctuate between 0% to more than 20% over the calendar year.
