Job Summary:


The Director, Database Administration partners with technology and business leaders in developing database systems: Implementing and maintaining overall database platforms, supporting the database environment of QTC application platform, and other database strategies and standards for the organization. This role is also responsible for staff oversight to ensure new database operations plans, policies, procedures, and transition/migration plans are consistent with IT departmental goals as well as alignment to overall company goals and objectives


 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


• Oversee the implementation and management of all database architectures and platforms at QTC. 


• Perform day-to-day mentoring and management of the database administration team members.


• Establishes and maintains relationships with Leidos partners, key vendors, and within Leidos to seek, qualify and leverage the best ideas, solutions and models to meet customer needs


• Develop, maintain, and administer database operational and administrative procedures, to meet or exceed Service Level Agreements (SLA).


• Ensure compliance with any regulatory requirements related to SOX, HIPAA, NIST 800-53, PII and other QTC/Leidos Audits.


• Provide engineering and technical expertise on all issues, performance work requests, system improvement efforts, and operations and maintenance activities.


• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned


 


Competencies: 


• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Comfortable with presenting to leadership.


• Aptitude and desire to learn new technologies, as required.


• Knowledge in supporting Oracle and Microsoft SQL Database Platforms. 


• Strong analytical, problem-solving skills.


• Proficient with SDLC processes.


• Ability to manage competing priorities and ability to adapt to change. 


• Desire to coach, teach, and build your team’s knowledge base


• Ability to lead individuals to meet the changing daily database requirements while meeting the business schedule requirements


 


Education and/or Experience: (includes certificate & licenses) 


• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, or information technology.  Master’s degree preferred


• Minimum 15 years of Database Administration experience.


• 14 years of relevant management experience leading a team of DBAs.  


• Experience in Database administration of Oracle Database, version 19c or higher


• Experience in Database administration of MS SQL Server 2016 or higher.


• Experience in Modeling Logical and Physical databases.


• Experience in developing database objects including stored procedures and triggers in PL-SQL and T-SQL.


• Experience developing Oracle Forms and Reports (6i and 9i) a plus.
