SUMMARY: The Maintenance Mechanic is within our Automotive division and works at the Prestone Alsip, Illinois facility on the midnight shift 11:30pm - 8:00am and is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, overhauling and maintaining the production lines. Our Line Mechanics are responsible for operating production lines at top efficiency while following all safety protocols. Essential Job Functions


  • Sets up production equipment to run scheduled production
  • Must be able to do fabrication of parts, guards, etc. as required.
  • Ability to troubleshoot AC/DC Electrical components (up to 480VAC 3 Phase) including motor starters, PLC logic, switches and sensors found on all assigned equipment using basic test equipment such as multi-meters, amp probes. Laptop computer.
  • Perform mechanical repairs on all production equipment, case machines, trimmers, blow molder, extruder, conveyors, case erectors/packers, palletizers, etc.
  • Capable of troubleshooting, repairing and overhauling equipment within close tolerances.
  • Must be open to working different shifts other than normally scheduled hours
  • Discusses difficulties in operating equipment with machine operators to isolate problems, and then troubleshoots machine to determine cause and repairs required.
  • Must be able to read and follow directions as found in technical manuals as well as be able to document any and all changes they are involved in. so as to refer back to the notes and records a thereby gain understanding as to how to set up lines an adjust machines and conveyors as needed.
  • Performs necessary repairs on equipment to keep it in top running order.
  • Assists in determining required design modifications and makes approved modifications to equipment.
  • Performs tasks in accordance with approved procedures and following all safety procedures and gmp's.
  • Provides coverage for mechanics on other shifts, as needed.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision as well as in a team setting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • High school graduate (or equivalent) with college and/or technical trade schooling.
  • Minimum of 7 years as maintenance technician in a manufacturing environment.
  • Fundamental math skills, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical/PLC background (PLC programming knowledge is a plus). NFPA 70E arc flash safety and QEW training. Lock Out Tag Out and Safe Electrical Practice Certificate.
  • Ability to lift and move material and products
  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Good knowledge of preventative maintenance programs
  • Must be flexible to work Shift Work (days, afternoons, nights)
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with lots of changes
  • Excellent knowledge of Health & Safety and Lockout Procedures
  • Working knowledge of computerized maintenance management software's an asset
  • Must pay attention to details with a customer service attitude
  • Strong team player with excellent problem-solving skills
