Job Summary:

This position is responsible for the integrity of Akima’s corporate network systems and will assist in the creation and maintenance of the systems, along with coordinating complex security projects.​ Hands-on Network Engineer experience with a broad scope of skills in implementing network and security best practices. This position is extremely dynamic in the skills required but will require a network and security professional to grasp the complexities and challenges for the environment.

 

Job Responsibilities:

• 
  

  Provide research development, implementation, and review of Akima’s information security to prevent unauthorized attacks.

  
  


• 
  

  Provide technical support, advice, and analysis in cyber security policy formulation.

  
  


• 
  

  Provide malicious attack and risk mitigation analysis as well as program protection engineering.

  
  


• 
  

  Assist with requirements and concepts of operation for cyber security.

  
  


• 
  

  Assist in program protection and information assurance aspects of developmental planning, systems acquisition, and operational employment of systems.

  
  


• 
  

  Work with companies, departments, and corporate teams as required.

  
  


• 
  

  Document security on both new and fielded information systems and/or provide accreditation/certification evaluation and test support to ensure all technical security features are considered and functioning properly.

  
  


• 
  

  Assist in the engineering and configuration of network firewalls, proxies, endpoint protection suites, and content filters.

  
  


• 
  

  Audit and provide technical knowledge regarding network firewalls, content filters, routers, and other network equipment.

  
  


• 
  

  Assist the Network Engineer with issues on the network and be hands-on.

  
  

Minimum Qualifications: 

• 
  

  Five plus years’ experience with Palo Alto firewalls.

  
  


• 
  

  Well versed in cyber security tools, network topologies, intrusion detection, PKI, network security monitoring, and secured networks as well as have familiarity and experience in the implementation of cyber security regulations and vulnerability assessments.

  
  


• 
  

  Must have experience building and maintaining Next Generation Firewalls, IPS systems, and content filtering solutions.

  
  


• 
  

  Must have experience in the design and implementation of network and/or server systems that meet agency cyber security policy and regulations.

  
  


• 
  

  Experience with regular vulnerability and web application scanning, through remediation of vulnerable software.

  
  


• 
  

  Experience with Log Management and Security Monitoring using SIEM solutions.

  
  


• 
  

  Odd hours and on call-duties are required.

  
  


• 
  

  Related Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering (one for one years’ experience in place of degree) plus 7+ years of network security experience.

  Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Clearance.

  
  


• 
  

  Consistent with President Biden's Executive Order 14042, you must be able to meet all health requirements, including but not limited to, current and future vaccination requirements to infectious diseases such as COVID-19.  The Executive Order generally requires that all federal workers and federal contractor employees be fully vaccinated by January 4, 2022.

  Experience with Securonix SIEM.

  Experience with Microsoft 365 Services and security offerings.

  Experience with RSA SecurID.

  
  


• 
  

  Experience with Citrix Netscaler, Cisco ASA-X.

  
  


• 
  

  Experience with Cisco IOS Zone Based Firewalls.

  
  


• 
  

  Experience with Network Security Monitoring tools such as Corelight, Snort IDS, Sourcefire, Syslog-NG.

  
  


• 
  

  Experience with Network Vulnerability Scanners such as Nessus and Netsparker.

  
  


• 
  

  General office environment. May occasionally be required to lift up to 20 lbs.
