Job Description:

An established acute care hospital in suburbs of Chicago is searching for a qualified Cardiology Nurse Director to join its senior nursing leadership team!


This acute care facility is home to 170+ beds, several award-winning specialties such as Cardiovascular care, Maternity Services and comprehensive Cancer Center. This hospital offers state-of-the-art technology throughout the hospital and its surgical services.


 The Nursing Director will be responsible for the overall operation of all Cardiology Operations including Cardiac Rehabilitation, Cardiology Clinic, Cardiac Cath Lab, Interventional Radiology, and Respiratory Care.  They will uphold and maintain standards of care in the clinical areas and the ongoing development of staff.  


The Cardiology Nursing Director will be responsible for the overall operations of the Cardiac Service Line. Supervises and evaluates quality of patient care provided and the skill level and pride values of staff. Facilitates the development of feasible standards of care and practice, including the integration/networking with agencies/services along the continuum of care. Actively participates in the education and development of staff by providing opportunities and facilitating in department in-services, conferences, and/or individual and small group instruction as necessary. Prepares, monitors, and maintains annual operating and capital budgets consistent with the organization’s financial goals, Departmental Operating Goals, reimbursement trends and current and/or projected standards of care.


The Nurse Director of Cardiology role will require:



  1. BSN (with current IL license).  Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred.

  2. Five years’ experience in Nursing Cardiology, IR and/or Cath Lab related field/Respiratory medicine.

  3. Three years healthcare management experience

  4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  5. Knowledge of TJC, IDPH, and other regulatory bodies

  6. Good computer skills necessary to access patient databases, e-mail systems, etc.

  7. Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to inspire leadership.

  8. Effective management skills to influence Human Resources utilization and motivation, marketing, and inter- and intra-departmental relations.
