Job Description:

The IT department is currently looking to fill  an Application Analyst II position. This position  provides support for applications used in various departments within the Augusta Health environment.  The Application Analyst is a vital member of the Augusta Healthcare team as they oversee the organization, maintenance and evaluation of the healthcare applications used to meet the hospital’s technical needs.


This position reports to an IT Applications Supervisor and provides ongoing support, monitoring, and optimization for the systems utilized by various departments in the environment.  The Application Analyst II will frequently be required to interact with PHI (patient health information) and will comply with all HIPAA and confidentiality standards.


In line with the Augusta Way, this position provides in-person support to providers and staff on site at our Fishersville campus and across our clinics in the Staunton, Augusta, Waynesboro area. The option to work remotely for a portion of the week is possible after six months with manager approval.


Essential Functions:



  • Reviews, analyzes, and modifies systems including testing and installing to support organizational applications.

  • Assists in the organization, maintenance and evaluation of documentation for supporting healthcare systems.

  • Acts as a strong resource to healthcare team members for all aspects of the systems they support.

  • Supports the IT training team with training content, information regarding systems to aid in the development of training materials, and occasional in-class or asynchronous training of software applications.

  • Identifies educational needs and collaborates with the IT training team to provide end-user support as needed, including scheduled and ad hoc training needs.

  • Participates with fellow team members and appropriate user groups to evaluate service requests and determine feasibility and advisability of system changes.

  • Assists team members and organizational leaders to analyze data and identify trends to improve organizational performance and clinical outcomes.

  • Assists in training of application team members and provides them with support on departmental processes and policies.

  • Participates in the development of downtime procedures for clinical and operational documentation and evaluates effectiveness to assure that the hospital and clinics remain functional during system downtimes.

  • Monitor and support implemented software and respond to issues as required making necessary corrections with appropriate change control.



  • Utilize ITIL methodology and best practices for change management processes and communication, to maintain highest levels of system stability and reliability.



  • Complies with all HIPAA standards when dealing with PHI and other patient data.

  • Maintains strong working relationships with end users, vendors, and consultants while providing day-to-day support of the applications.

  • Provides “Go Live” support, hypercare, and service transition support.

  • Participates in projects as needed and performs other duties as assigned

  • Provides on call support as needed.


Education/Experience Requirements



  • Three years IT Healthcare experience

  • Associate degree or two additional years of experience

  • Current relevant clinical or IT certification/licensure


Knowledge



  • Familiarity with healthcare operations and workflows in either acute and/or ambulatory settings



  • Excellent understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives



  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills



  • Ability to conduct research into system issues as needed



  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with attention to detail



  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment



  • Strong customer service orientation



  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment



  • Knowledge of ITIL4 processes, terminology, and best practices.

  • Knowledge of healthcare operations and terminology
