The Autonomous Hauling System (AHS) Technician is responsible for supporting Caterpillar Command for Hauling and other MineStar products.  These systems utilize multiple sensors such a lidar, radar, electronic control modules, GNSS receivers, and accelerometers. Primary job functions require troubleshooting, calibrating, repairing, and maintaining the onboard technology systems and the machine integration. Caterpillar MineStar systems include remote controlled equipment, machine health monitoring systems, site awareness, grading and drilling machine control and guidance.  This individual will perform these duties in a manner that reflects the company’s vision of working as “One Professional Team” at Wagner Equipment Co. (WECo). This role ensures customers receive the full benefit from their mining technology investment.


Pay rate:  $23.57 - $37.00 per hour
Pay rate is dependent upon education & experience. 
Location: This position is based at the Cripple Creek Mine

Essential Functions:

  • Perform necessary job functions while adhering to all applicable safety policies and procedures

  • Tracks and reports product problems to management and manufacturers

  • Maintains company standard regarding p-card reporting and record keeping

  • Provides/facilitates support and onboard training to customers

  • Develops a good working relationship with customers’ operating personnel and provides training and refresher courses as required

  • Input, follow up, and maintain support tickets using TSC

  • Maintains outstanding One Professional Team relationships with WECo Sales and Service Department personnel

  • Maintain positive work relationships with manufacturers’ representatives and support personnel

  • Applies a working knowledge of GPS systems

  • Applies an understanding of survey practices and procedures

  • Applies a working knowledge of routers, firewalls, VLANS, switches, windows server, data bases, multiple operating systems (Windows, Linux, Onx)

  • Serves as the technical expert for the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and use of these systems

  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and engineering drawings

  • Serves as the application software expert and helps assure that the customer is receiving full benefit from their investment

  • Evaluates system performance (hardware, firmware, database, network, and software) and proposes changes as needed to optimize performance

  • Assists service managers in making customer, dealer, and manufacturer policy settlement decisions

  • Acts as technical contact for external and internal customers

  • Facilitates internal and customer acceptance of these products by being a reliable source of information on these products

  • Acts self-sufficiently in finding technical information from a variety of sources

  • Identify necessary part numbers and coordinate the procurement of repair parts

  • Troubleshoot and repair onboard technology and base machines as required

  • Effectively communicates complex technical issues to non-technical external and internal customers

  • Other duties as assigned by manager


Required Education and Experience:



  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Experience or training working with electronic components

  • Experience with construction and/or mining equipment

  • Experience or training in electronics, information technology, or navigation systems

  • 3-5 years technical or mechanical experience


Additional Eligibility Requirements:



  • Must be able to acquire MSHA and OSHA certification for working at mine sites


Physical Demands & Competencies:



  • Standing, walking, talking, sitting, use of hands & hearing

  • Squatting/Kneeling

  • Ability to ascend/descend ladders, stairs, etc.

  • Medium work that includes lifting and/or moving objects up to 100 pounds or more

  • Data Entry, telephone, reading/writing, reasoning, organizational, communication & math skills

  • Safety & Product Knowledge

  • Intermediate knowledge of proper use of hand, diagnostic, and power tools

  • Skilled troubleshooter

  • Skilled in electrical systems

  • Intermediate Computer Skills

  • Ability to work well under pressure

  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

  • Intermediate knowledge of ET/SIS/SIS Web/STW

  • 0-25%
