As an Electrical Engineering technician, you will test medical products comprised of electrical, mechanical, optical and software components. You will be expected to contribute in a broad range of areas including individual testing, calibration, scheduling testing documentation for medical products including navigation, laser ablation, surgical tools and robotics.

A Day in the Life


  • You will be responsible for EMC and electrical safety testing per 60601 for a range of medical products

    • ESD Testing
    • Radiated Emissions testing
    • Immunity testing
    • Leakage testing

  • You will create and update documentation including, but not limited to calibration documents, written procedures; tool files, etc.

  • You will work with test equipment suppliers.
  • You will participate in cross-functional teams with Quality, Marketing, Manufacturing, and Regulatory Affairs departments to provide technical input as requested
  • You will develop test and evaluation methodologies, fixtures, protocols and procedures.
  • You will ensure all necessary documentation (including but not limited to requirements, designs, test protocols and reviews) are created, released and maintained to Medtronic and medical device requirements.
  • You will plan, design, review, oversee and conduct testing of devices.
  • You will create and maintain designs per medical electrical safety and electrical emissions and immunity standards (60601-1/60601-1-2)

Must Have: Minimum Requirements


  • Minimum of 4 years of experience of relevant experience and may require vocational or technical education or certification in addition to prior work experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Nice to Have

  • Quality engineering background
  • Capital Equipment assembly background
  • Assembling, evaluating, testing and troubleshooting analog and digital circuitry, EMI control measures and systems of sub-assemblies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Management of 3 rd party contract designers, manufacturers, suppliers, and test houses.
  • Knowledge of US and international medical quality, safety standards, emissions and immunity (IEC 60601-1/60601-1-2, RoHS, ISO-14971)
  • Experience and knowledge of design for test, reliability and quality methodologies.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with little direction or as part of a multidisciplinary team.
