Position Summary
Duties and Responsibilities
Manages overall operations of designated area of authority. Interviews, hires, trains, and directs personnel. Prepares and conducts performance assessments, coordinates discipline, and oversees. Employee development as required.
Supervises claims leaders and analyzes and evaluates Workers' Compensation department operating efficiency, staffing and activities and makes modifications to ensure optimum performance. Ensures that each area in Workers' Compensation is adequately staffed and the staff is adequately trained, directed, and supervised.
Directs Cost Control Activities and reviews claims expenses to ensure they conform to company guidelines.
Directs the handling of Policyholder, Agent and claimant complaints and inquiries. Counsels agents on policy interpretation, procedures, and related matters.
Assists in the creation and implementation of long- and short-term objectives that are in alignment with the enterprise strategy and claims department strategy. Ensures all approved policies, plans and objectives are clearly understood and effectively applied throughout the department.
Collaborates with the Director, Medical Management / Workers' Compensation on process changes, work flow changes and compliance changes that impact Workers' Compensation department.
Acts as business lead on projects impacting Workers' Compensation.
Maintains and applies a current knowledge of trends and latest developments in the industry. Implements changes within authority. Represents the company with industry, community and among Agents. Promotes the company's good will and interest.

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and eight years claim handling or related experience required or Associates degree and ten years claims handling experience required, or High School Diploma, or GED, and twelve years claims handling experience required.Management Experience required.Completion of Associate in Claims (AIC) designation preferred.Willingness to obtain and maintain any required licenses.Valid driver's license required.
