DESCRIPTION

Michael Baker Is seeking a Planner I to support our housing services team in Southern California.

Under limited supervision, assists project managers by performing moderately complex tasks associated with the general
administration of state/federal grants for housing and community development and the implementation of housing, human
services, public works, and other projects/programs funded by such grants.


  • Compiles and tabulates information required for planning documents submitted to state/federal agencies in order to receive grant funding Compiles and tabulates financial and programmatic information needed to comply with state/federal agency grant reporting requirements Tracks the status of grant-funded projects/programs
  • Collects, analyzes, and summarizes income verification and eligibility data for applicants for housing rehabilitation assistance
  • Conducts field investigations of existing conditions at project sites and develops descriptions of rehabilitation work to be performed preparation of loan documentation
  • Assists applicants with the selection of contractors to perform housing rehabilitation work
  • Monitors work performed by contractors for adherence to contract requirements
  • Secures applicant execution of all required program documents
  • Assists with the monitoring of public service agencies receiving grant funds
  • Performs quality control procedures
  • Assists project managers with creating client communications, invoices, and cost estimates
  • Occasional to moderate travel may be required
  • Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry quality codes and standards
  • Performs other duties as assigned by project managers

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Four-year degree in Engineering or related field
  • 2+ years related experience

COMPENSATION

The salary range for this position is $42,000-$ 55, 000. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
