PGIM Fixed Income is seeking to hire an Associate for the Global Macroeconomic Research Team to support the team’s research agenda. The team is responsible for formulating the firm’s views on the economic outlook across emerging and developed countries, as well as maintaining sovereign credit ratings and developing economic research for use in the investment process as well as for external distribution.  We are looking for an individual with strong interpersonal, analytical, and quantitative skills who is intellectually curious, highly collaborative, and proactive. This is a hybrid position whereby the Analyst will be typically expected to be present in our Newark, NJ office three days per week. The position reports to the Chief Economist.

Key responsibilities include:


  • Maintaining and streamlining large data sets, including the data underlying the in-house sovereign rating and ESG rating models.

  • Further developing macroeconomic and financial databases and automating related chart books.

  • Tracking economic and political developments of a handful of emerging markets to formulate outlooks for those economies under the mentorship of senior economists.

  • Developing access to new data sets and supporting the analysis.

  • Supporting the research and other analytical work of regional economists on the team.

Qualifications:


  • B.A. or M.A. in economics, statistics, mathematics, computer science, or related fields.

  • Four years of relevant work experience in a financial institution, central bank or think tank, for instance.

  • Hands-on experience with macroeconomic and financial data.

  • Strong econometric, data management and programming skills (e.g., Haver, Macrobond, Stata, Eviews, Python).

  • Interest in Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) issues.

  • High attention to detail.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks under tight deadlines.

  • Capacity to work well both independently and as a team member.

  • Fluency in one other major language (e.g., Mandarin, Spanish, French) is highly desirable but not required.

Note: Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations.

The salary range for this role is from $125,000 to $165,000.    Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills.

Roles may also be eligible for additional compensation and/or benefits.

Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance. In addition, employees are eligible for standard benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental and retirement.
