Job Description:

The Telecommunications Operator performs a variety of switchboard, and Emergency Operations duties in support of Hospital business operation involving the receipts and referral of calls, providing information to the public and hospital personnel.

The Switchboard is essential to the operation of Augusta Health’s facilities and Physician practices. Operators are at the heart of this operation and perform a wide variety of essential functions to ensure timely communications helping with the care of our patients. Additional duties include monitoring our fire and security systems, performing overhead paging for critical emergency communications and helping to provide overall security controls to the main hospital.

 

Education Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent

Skill Requirements:

• Strong interpersonal skills.


• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.


• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management, staff and the public.

Essential Functions:

• Operates multiple positions telephone switchboard to relay incoming and outgoing calls and performs miscellaneous hospital communications


• Answer caller questions according to company policies and procedures.


• Provide directions to patients, visitors and vendors.


• Page Physicians for patient needs.  Page other on-call personnel to address facility and other needs.


• Perform Physician call schedule changes.


• Perform other duties as required by Management
