Amsted Rail has an immediate opening for a Production Supervisor at its operation in Granite City, Illinois.

This position reports to and receives general direction from the Superintendent & Lead Supervisor of Molding.  Reporting positions to the Molding Supervisor are all union employees. The general duties of the Molding Supervisor are to help direct the daily activities for all hourly, to work with Process Department on ensuring quality standards are met and work with the Maintenance Department to determine what crafts are needed to make repairs. The Molding Supervisor is responsible for the safety of the employees working in the department and the enforcement of rules and guidelines in practiced. The Molding Supervisor is to allocate manpower as needed to meet all production needs.


  • Support and enforces safety programs to ensure employees are performing safe work practices and maintain proper PPE in regulated area, reduce safety hazards, and prevent incidents with continuous improvements

  • Support the Value of the Person (VOP) philosophy. All employees should be treated with Love Dignity and Respect. Supervisor should understand employees are our most asset and should be treated accordingly

  • Maintain a high standard of quality, ensuring all quality checks and balance are maintained. A quality first attitude is a must, no cutting corners is acceptable

  • Prepare shifts reports, update JSA and communicate safety instruction, quality concerns and other prevalent matters to employees in daily toolbox talks

  • An innovation mind set is a must. Looking for individuals who don’t accept the norm but are constantly looking for new ways to make improvements. Ideas maybe through lean manufacturing, job combinations, new equipment, or process improvements

Requirements:

  • Associate degree or 3 years of equivalent experience in a production-related environment

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical or business field preferred

  • Familiarity with green sand foundry preferred

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word

  • Experience with an ERP software-preferably SAP

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

  • Success in establishing and maintaining a 5S program

  • Ability to direct and motivate people, complete multiple tasks promptly, and work well with others.  Organized, responsible, self-motivated, and provide recommendations to enhance operations and safety performance
