Process Analyst - Transit at Amsted Rail

Amsted Rail has an immediate opening for a Process Analyst at its operation in Granite City, Illinois.

This position supervises Union employees working in the Transit Molding occupation and will ensure that castings are produced with the highest degree of quality, while maintaining productivity and cost effectiveness.

 

  • Responsible for all aspects of the production of Transit products at Granite City
    • Achieve the specified objective for each of the following quality metrics as they may apply:

      • Scrap

      • First pass yield

      • Customer satisfaction index

      • Process audit compliance




  • Manage, monitor, and resolve quality issues which are not necessarily related to the established quality metrics but may cause excessive cleaning, increased costs, or loss of productivity

  • Assist in resolving various quality issues by either being a member of an improvement team or leading such a team

  • Assist in resolving various quality issues by providing training or technical assistance as needed

  • Develop or assist in developing such quality system documentation such as procedures, work instructions, and audit checklists

  • Run or assist in running samples or experiments as needed to make quality or cost improvements

  • Develop new Transit Products

  • Schedule workforce and distribute work assignments to ensure available manpower to perform all necessary assignments needed to establish efficient operations

  • Maintain sufficient supplies and materials for the workforce to maintain efficient operations and report any necessary maintenance required for the equipment

  • Support safety programs and order safety equipment to ensure employees practice safety guidelines and are informed concerning safety hazards and prevention

  • Maintain continual checks on equipment operations, safety hazards, and quality

  • Monitor overtime and absenteeism to maintain cost control

  • Maintain and increase knowledge of material quality and steel castings requirements in demand by customers, and ensure employees are also aware of this knowledge

  • Undertake special projects and perform all other related duties

Requirements:

  • Minimum of four-year degree required (Preferably Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering)

  • Minimum of 5 years in product or foundry process experience

  • Ability to read and interpret Drawings/Blueprints

  • Strong understanding of quality control processes

  • Knowledge of computer applications, the ability to navigate online and internal software and ability to learn new software

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills

  • Ability to direct and motivate people, complete multiple tasks promptly, and work well with others. Organized, responsible, self-motivated, and provide recommendations to enhance operations and safety performance

  • Promote change and innovation within the workplace and practices

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiar with Modeling software, Polyworks Metrology software, Tableau (Data Analytics), SAP

  • Pepset/No-Bake molding experience

  • Familiar with lean manufacturing
