Summary:


Works with the Chair and Faculty in Cancer Genetics and Genomics to increase the number of high-quality submissions resulting in an increase in external funding for the organization; coordinates application preparation, including editing, proofreading, formatting and revising grants; locates appropriate funding opportunities for Roswell Park investigators; maintains central database for grant application opportunities and applications submitted; provides training and technical assistance to investigators and support staff as needed; processes online submission requests for pharmaceutical company sponsorship of major conferences, symposia or other CME events.


Assists Department members with drafting, editing, and managing submission of required administrative research components including Biosafety, IACUC, IRB, and clinical trial forms.


Facilitates identification of and communication with Research Advocates and community partners.


Develops a working knowledge of research technologies in Cancer Genetics and throughout the Roswell Park CCSG supported Shared Resources and makes recommendations on the use of innovative new technologies housed within the department and/or at Roswell Park to improve grant proposals and capitalize on department resources. This includes providing supporting text and preliminary data for new technologies.


Assists departmental members with assembly and submission of manuscripts, including:
Manuscript reading and editing
Manuscript reformatting for new journals
Manuscript submission


Develops and polishes research profiles for faculty and labs for both institutional and public facing platforms


Prepares project descriptions for Alliance foundation and Roswell marketing opportunities


Assists with the design and maintenance of public facing faculty and laboratory webpages


Develops and maintains research profiles for current and former graduate students and post-doctoral fellows to aid in student recruitment efforts


Promotes cancer genetics successes (grants, papers, students graduating etc.) on social media including managing the Cancer Genetics twitter account.


Prepares presentation materials highlighting Cancer Genetics accomplishments for internal deadlines including board meetings, CCSG related deadlines, etc.


Starting salary for this position is $54,232 annually which includes a comprehensive benefits package.




Qualifications:


Required Education and Experience


1. Bachelor's degree and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time experience in grant preparation and editing; or
2. Associate's degree and the equivalent of four (4) years of full-time experience in grant preparation and editing.


NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.



Preferred Qualifications:



The preferred candidate will have experience with grants, manuscripts, lab experience, proofreading experience and experience with all MS office suite.
