T. Rowe Price is seeking a Lead Data Architect who can accelerate the execution of the firm’s Enterprise data architecture strategy. As part of the Enterprise Data Architecture team, the Sr. Data Architect has an opportunity to implement ground-breaking capabilities and transformative customer experiences. Your primary responsibility as a Data Modeler is to define and design conceptual, logical and physical data models for the firm’s strategic data and work with the technology, business and project teams to ensure implementation of strategic data solutions.
In this role, you will design and develop IT architecture (integrated process, applications, data, and technology) solutions to business problems in alignment with enterprise data architecture strategy and standards. You will perform technical planning, architecture development, and modification of specifications as well as develop specifications for new products/services, applications, and service offerings. This opportunity will also require that you assess the compatibility and integration of products/services proposed as standards in order to ensure an integrated architecture across interdependent technologies.

Role summary and job responsibilities:
Own the management of the enterprise data architecture tools/platforms strategy, inventory and related lifecycle
Take product ownership of enterprise data tools and platforms, and ensure delivery and adoption
Understand and advocate Enterprise Architecture principles and articulating value proposition of data architecture and data technologies to technology partners
Ensure our firm's projects engage data architecture early and often on architecturally significant projects
Manage and continuously improve the design and implementation of data architecture tools and platforms, its related processes and artifacts
Manage and monitor the data quality of the content in the data architecture tools and platforms
Work with the enterprise data architecture program team and departmental data owners, stewards and custodians to curate the contents in the data architecture tools and platforms
Collaborate with the enterprise application and solutions architecture team to manage the data technology domain
Balance tactical vs. strategic trade-offs when making decisions or proposing solutions and technology products within the data technology domain
Facilitate the lifecycle management and reporting of the technology products in data technology domain and impact to data environment
Review key design decisions with departmental architecture review boards
Ensure decisions around data architecture are made and deviations from standards are properly identified, addressed, and communicated. Raise issues to the Principal Architects and Senior Managers as necessary
Participate and lead reviews of projects that are in flight. Work closely with technical leads of projects contributing solutions to the project’s most challenging problems and able to be hands-on as needed
Ensure that all individual solution architecture artifacts and changes are documented as per process standards and stored in T. Rowe Price’s Enterprise Architecture Library to facilitate compliance, organization, and access
Coordinate with other enterprise architects as necessary for solution architecture
Take control of complex or vague problems and step through them in a rational way.

Requirements
A Bachelors or Masters Degree in a technology area of study; preferably in Computer Science, MIS or Analytics
Experience in Asset Management and/or financial services preferred
10+ years equivalent work experience
8+ years of experience in Data Analysis, Data Architecture and/or Data Lake/Warehousing; preferably in a shared or enterprise data environment
8+ years direct experience in Data Modeling and Data Solution Development. Excellent knowledge of metadata management, data modeling, and related tools (Erwin or ER Studio or others) required.
8+ years of hands-on relational, dimensional, and/or analytic experience (using RDBMS, dimensional, NoSQL data platform technologies, and ELT/ETL and data ingestion protocols).
Expertise in methodologies and practices in data management, data quality and data operation
Deep experience in logical, physical and semantic data modeling
SQL Query development skills for analyzing and profiling data
Experience with multiple SDLC methodologies – Waterfall and Agile
Expertise in data modeling principles/methods including conceptual, logical & physical Data Models, knowledge of modern techniques such as data vault or graph data models is a plus
Ability to clearly communicate complex technical ideas, regardless of the technical capacity of the audience
Strong inter-personal skills and ability to work as part of a team
Ability to quickly learn and adapt modeling methods from case studies or other proven approaches
Have product management and delivery experience is a plus
