Line Human Resources Director, Cummins Sales and Service North America at Cummins

Job Description:

We are looking for a talented, dynamic Human Resources Director to join our Distribution Segment and Cummins Sales and Service North America (CSSNA) headquartered in Columbus, Indiana. The role is designated hybrid, allowing you to work from your home office and requires less than 5% overall travel.

This role sits at the intersection of business unit compliance, readiness, and business services. This role will have significant short term and long-term impact on the entire business unit, as it will:


  • Lead our Centralized Administration and Compliance team and serve as the Human Resources Business Partner for functional organizations to include HR, Finance, etc.

  • Partner closely with Cummins Business Services to direct the administration of payroll, time and attendance, OneSource HRIS system accuracy activities while at the same time providing human resources administrative support in processing employee transactions such as new hires, internal transfers, departures, and other associated responsibilities to ensure both data integrity and compliance

In this role, the HR Director will make an impact in the following ways:


  • While reporting to the Executive Director of Human Resources, you will lead and deliver multiple key initiatives across the business unit  

  • Partner with business leadership to align human resources strategies, policies and processes with the business’s current and future goals while establishing plans to meet business objectives

  • Establish retention, and recruiting strategies targeting diverse talent required to maintain competitive advantages

  • Provide employee development expertise while leading an environment fixed on continuous personal development

  • Implement work systems focused on goal attainment and high-performance attainment

  • Ensure compliance with key government legislated requirements and adherence to human resources policies and procedures in complex regions or across multiple businesses or functions

  • Evaluate key performance indicators to drive functional and business performance improvements related to human resource investments; leads initiatives focused on achieving performance excellence in human resources

  • Communicate and consult on all areas of human resources programs, including compensation, benefits, staffing, organizational development, employee relations, and performance management in alignment with common global human resources strategies and processes

  • Coach and mentor one or two levels of direct reports; assign work according to availability, skills, and developmental needs; assesses performance and provides feedback to direct reports

Team Effectiveness Facilitation: guides team to increased effectiveness through observation, facilitation and application of structured tools resulting in increased capability to deliver desired business outcomes

Employee Relations: builds constructive relationships with employees and other stakeholders; reinforces the consistent application of Cummins standards applies knowledge of employment and labor law; effectively manages conflict; builds and maintains a collaborative, productive work environment through information sharing and consultation

Human Resources Consulting: collaborates with partners to observe the environment and apply sound judgement informed by knowledge, skills, and experiences to identify and optimize opportunities to provide holistic solutions, while balancing the needs of stakeholders, primarily employees, with those of the organization

Data Analytics: discovers, interprets, and communicates qualitative and quantitative data; determines conclusions relying on knowledge of business or functional frameworks; simultaneously applies statistics, data validity, data visualization, and problem-solving approaches to effectively extract meaningful patterns and business insights; presents conclusions and outcomes that enable data driven business decisions

Human Resources Business Process Execution: manages the execution of Human Resources business processes, seeking efficiency, accuracy, positive business performance outcomes and operational agility; integrates activities across processes as needed; assures compliance with process and legal requirements; effectively balances process requirements and business leader needs  

Developing Talent: developing people to meet both their career goals and the organization’s goals

Influence: ability to influence and collaborate with all levels of the organization including senior executives while building cross functional relationships

Leadership: coaches and motivates staff, provides guidance and direction on problems and issues; delegates work assignments considering employee skills and development needs

Strategic Roadmap Planning: produces a high-level, multi-year product and capability roadmap utilizing internal and external business resource, asset and market knowledge and experience to communicate the organization's focus and priorities to internal and external stakeholders



Cultivates Innovation: creating new and better ways for the organization to be successful

Education


  • College, university, or equivalent bachelor’s degree in engineering, required

  • Deep technical knowledge in payroll systems, HRIS functional excellence, required

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), preferred

  • 8-10 years cross business unit experience in a highly complex, matrix organization, required

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
