Position OverviewThe Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) at the University of Kansas invites applications for a Specialist in Documenting Student Learning (Assessment). The specialist reports to the CTE's Associate Director for Student Learning and Analytics and is a key member of the CTE team. CTE is an organization that serves to build community among faculty members and guides the campus in implementing, recognizing and rewarding evidence-based and innovative educational practices. The specialist works in close collaboration with the CTE staff and faculty fellows and serves as a campus-wide resource on undergraduate and graduate assessment.
The work of the specialist helps support the implementation of a comprehensive plan for assessment of student learning. This plan informs curriculum, teaching, educational improvement and innovation, and it serves as a resource for reporting requirements for the Kansas Board of Regents (KBOR) and the Higher Learning Commission as part of our periodic accreditation review. The specialist's focus is on assisting faculty members and academic units as they identify, implement, and evaluate their assessment goals. Job Description25% - Works with the CTE Associate Director to help plan, implement, and evaluate the Center's range of programs, activities and resources to champion assessment of student learning and student success, and the use of learning outcomes and learning analytics data for educational improvement.
25% - Consult with individuals and academic units to develop and implement assessment plans based on appropriate learning outcomes and assessment measures.
20% - Work with other CTE members to promote and support course and curriculum (re)design to improve student outcomes and equity.
10% - Collaborates with other campus units to achieve center goals related to assessment, learning analytics, educational improvement and innovation;
10% - Further develop and maintain web-based resources that disseminate assessment policies, procedures, and practices.
5% - Actively participate in the broader post-secondary assessment community, including national conferences and workshops on assessment.
5% - Maintain knowledge of the national trends and innovations in assessment, as well as the reporting requirements for University accrediting and governing bodies. Position Requirements
