SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST (FULL-TIME)



JOB DESCRIPTION



 



Under the general supervision of the Clinical Regional Directors (RCDs), the full time Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) will provide speech and language services to clients/consumers in a home/community setting, conduct developmental evaluations, and train and counsel client's caregivers. Additionally, the SLP will supervise assistant staff (e.g., SLPAs), clinical students, and regional staff.We are looking for SLP's in the Quarts Hill and surrounding areas!

CLINICAL DUTIES


 



THERAPY AND CONSULTATION



  • Conduct 
    formal and informal 
    evaluations to assess communication skills (e.g., articulation, fluency, voice, expressive and receptive language, 
    pragmatics, etc.) for the purpose of identifying communication disorders, determining program eligibility, and developing recommendations for treatment.


  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members including Occupational Therapists, Child Developmental Specialists, Behavioral Therapists, and 
    Parent Support Specialists
    .


  • Provide treatment of communication skills and oral motor function of infants and toddlers with developmental or physical disabilities referred to the Speech and Related Services department.


  • Provide supervision of CFs, SLPA and CDS staff aligning with the California Board, ASHA, and funding source requirements.


  • Provide feedback to staff and caregivers in order to communicate learners' progress in the program.


  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with organizational policies and procedures related to privacy.


  • Follow standards of practice for the profession regarding the safe application of assessment protocols, therapeutic techniques, and techniques for direct handling of clients.


  • Design, develop, and employ alternative diagnostic or communication devices and strategies.


  • Instruct clients and family members in strategies to cope with or avoid communication-related misunderstandings.


  • Provide in-services and consultation for the speech and related services department as well as the behavioral department.
     


  • Maintain continuing education units (CEUS) to abide by both state and ASHA laws for the practicing SLP supervisor.


  • Maintain a minimal 30 hours (caseload, administrative duties, and drive time) per week in order to be considered a full time employee.



 



REQUIREMENTS


 



  • Master's Prepared in the field of Speech Language Pathology and a current/valid Speech-Language Pathologist license in the State of California


  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCCs) from ASHA


  • Two or more years' experience in the field of pediatric Speech and Language Therapy


  • Supervision CEU requirements to support CF and SLPA candidates 


  • Excellent written and verbal communication


  • Demonstrate good affect and outgoing personality


  • A high level of professionalism and organizational skills


  • Demonstrate excellent time management, able to multi-task, and able to prioritize job duties.


  • Ability, desire, and flexibility to serve culturally, linguistically, and economically diverse families


  • Must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel to scheduled client homes and schools in assigned region.
